Antoine
Hello there, I'm looking for a good Tornado reference book, if possible modelling-oriented. I'm way more interested in the GR.xx than ADV, IDS or ECR. Any ideas?
Muzz
For purely modelling oriented reference and cost, the Datafile series cover the Tornado http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/ref/sam/book_sam_ad2.shtml
Antoine
Thanks Muzz, I didn't know about this serie, but I've got some SAM MDF books, and I know that they're not equal in overall quality. What about this serie?
Sebastien
Hi Antoine, I have the Haynes RAF Tornado Owner User Manual which is quite good : The Lock On is quite good too. Then I also use the WAPJ for reference. Cheers, S.
Antoine
Thanks Seb, I know about the Lock On, but it's a bit out of my scope, as IIRC it doesn't deal with latest GRs. Concerning OWM, it's not the first time I see this serie, but the cover makes me think about a purely technical book, or some cheap encyclopedia of some kind (For short, I've no clue about wht I'll find inside!). Muzz
Antoine It has 7 chapters devoted the RAF GR1/4, including chapers on the Gr1B, Op Grandby and Op Telic. There's good Walkround photos of a Gr4, most the photos are in colour other than some early Gr1 shots. The remaining 4 or 5 chapers covers the German, Italian and Saudi aircraft. There's some side profiles at the back covering different colour schemes but there not that detailed and a bit lacking. Overall I think it's a pretty good reference tool for the money.
