overscan
Thanks Troy, yes I did, hopefully overscan might pick up on this. I've had a soft spot for this aeroplane since seeing it in a Look & Learn magazine +/- 50 years ago. Steve. I can certainly bring a few copies back from the UK for fellow Kiwis Its printed in the UK and is much too specialist for NZ bookshops, but I may get my wife to sell some on Trademe. stevehnz
Sounds good to me, I'll sure put my hand up for one. If you can manage to give us a heads up on here at the time would be appreciated. Steve.

Troy Smith
Neat! Is it me or does that look like a Hunter with a new fuselage?
colin
I can see the Hunter in the fin, and perhaps the wing, but the rest sorry no Edit: Suppose it you look at it the way you said yes, if you take everything away bar the fuselage, but then you could say does it look like a F-16 if you take everything bar the engine intake away
overscan
The wing was similar in general shape to the Hunter but thinner. Here's a view of Sea Hawk, Hunter and P.1121 outlines scaled to the same wingspan (it didn't make the book).
overscan
However, we could also say it looks like an F-105:
Space Ranger
However, we could also say it looks like an F-105: Now THERE's a kit conversion; anybody wanna attempt it? :-)
daldroflas
I can't wait to get hold of this book! The P.1121 has to be in my top five favourite aircraft. I have a lovely 1/72 resin kit somewhere in the stash that will have to be pulled out. Plus a collection of 1/48 kits put aside for a kitbash project. I hope the book is a huge success for you! overscan
Thanks, I hope it inspires a bunch of cool models. I know its in a lot of stashes but not that many seem to have been built judging from my online searches.

daldroflas
Big but elegant, looks powerful and menacing! A shame it never flew at all. Overscan - I'm guilty as charged. I need to put that right.
daldroflas
Overscan - Please, Please, publish the main drawings within the book so they are not printed across two pages. I would rather a drawing be split and its two halves be on separate pages than have it distorted by flowing across two pages. Fold outs would be ideal but I am aware that this would be unlikely due to costs. I don't know how much of a problem this would be but it would be invaluable to those wanting to kitbash or scratch one of these beauties. I'm sure I'll love the book in any case! overscan
No drawings are split. There are some full page drawings which are landscape in format - these work out to 1/144 scale. Foldouts are indeed too expensive. I am planning a PDF of all the drawings and more which had to be excluded due to space limits formatted to A3 as a free download for purchasers of the book - so you can print out the plans large for modelling purposes.
toms111s
This looks very interesting, I'd never heard of this aircraft until now. I will take a copy as well when it's released.

Sorry for the late response! That is absolutely fantastic, over and above what I could reasonably have expected. A modellers dream I really can't wait now! Procopius
Will it be possible for those of us labouring under the criminal misfortune of US citizenship to pre-order the book?

Jackman
Thanks Procopius! I'll send them an email Like some of the others, it was that RAF Yearbook artwork from post #6 that sparked my interest in the P.1121.
Ali62
I went looking and found this deal. Have a look here, http://www.bookdepository.com/Hawker-P-1103-P-1121-Paul-Martell-Mead/9780956195159 quite a good deal, and free delivery worldwide. I have had quite a lot of books from them with no problems so far, so I think an order will be on its way soon. cheers Ali
Mike
That link didn't seem to work for me Ali, so try this one instead - CLICKY Looks like a cool book of an aircraft that I had only the dimmest recollections of. I'll try & swing by your stand if I make it to Telford
