celticwardog
Hi All, new here. My main love is sci-fi but joined forces with a train loon and we made this. It's been exhibited once (hence the video link at the bottom). I can build kits but the other guy is a master scratch builder so 99% of what you see is just that, but I paint it all. Thats it, any questions please ask though I probably won't know, but I can find out. BristolBlue
Fabulous - unremarkable location and buildings very hum drum made into a fabulous attention grabbing model. Brilliant and the life in the figures is amazing and must have taken hours and weeks.
celticwardog
Cheers Mr Blue. What you see is about 1 years solid work, but that's pretty much all evenings and weekends. Ta about the figures, that's me and where I started with D & D and Warhammer though these are a bit smaller...I find I need off the peg reading glasses for them now! "unremarkable location and buildings very hum drum" - that's exactly what we wanted, for me too many of them (layouts) are choccy box, romantic loveliness so ta again. Foghorn Leghorn
Wow, that's impressive, there's a lot of detail painting/weathering in that.

Silver Fox
That is just fabulous, so real life. Maybe to make it more realistic the trains should not run?
celticwardog
Haha when it was exhibited for the 1st time we had issues and knocked up a sign saying no trains due to wet leaves!
HOUSTON
Celticwardog, EXCEPTIONAL diorama with so many activities .. Really NOICE... I like that you have 'movement' in figures which are AWESOME, rather than just standing in frozen stance.. This is VERY GOOD... BRAVO...

celticwardog
Thanks guys, not sure why the video isn't working - it must of at some point as there comments. I don't own it alas, I was behind the layout (I can hear myself - major cringe!) and someone posted that so not much I can do. Will try the link again but will take out what makes it a link, please just add www or google the link: youtube.com/watch?v=BrXppxfLdSg Thanks about the figures, I took a great deal of time to think about how to pose them - the problem being many of the same ones are seen on other layouts though partially resolved by the fact that all the factory made ones were repainted. Thanks about the pic Enzo but my absolute favourite is this: Something about the cold light and I suppose the figures I think made this hyper realistic, and I very rarely say that or praise my own stuff as with a lot of modellers (I'm sure many can relate!) all I normally see are annoying faults. celticwardog
I found a load more pics actually, some of the more scenic end too, forgive the colours my camera seems to make everything much brighter in colour than it actually is. Some of this is train close ups too when they were work in progress:

fightersweep
WoW! There's just something about railway architecture that I've always liked. I've seen lots of layouts in my time, but unfortunately somehow, they just miss the mark. This, on the other hand, is just superb. The attention to detail is just spot on and simply amazing. Those photos just draw you into the scene with a great sense of realism. Everything looks just how it should, and that's coming from someone who grew up spending their weekends in a signal box with his Dad (Purfleet) Ah! BR in the 1970's...nothing quite like it and seeing this is a massive nostalgia trip for me. I've often thought in my mind about the sort of layout I would build if I had the time...and it looks just like this! Top notch work! Well done! Regards; Steve PS: I also can't help but hearing Flash and the Pan's "Waiting for a train" when I look at this layout for some reason! celticwardog
Ta very much buddy. I had to Google the song, I remember it but didn't recognise the title/band. Cool! Myself cannot get rid of this ear worm as a train song, there is a quick reference in the first few lines AND this was playing in the van when we first exhibited it. A more obscure one, from the dying days of thier careeer, naff start and generally naff but a really punchy chorus and a great march at the end.
