shood23
Not that I have any affiliation with them but hiroboy.com is the best I have found for both paint and primer and all my builds are done with a cheapy combo airbrush compressor that i got of eBay for £70 saying that i have changed the airbrush for a slightly better one Shaun
Steve Noble
Being as though you posted this in the vehicle section, I'm assuming that you'll be building automotive subjects, cars and bikes..?? I've just bought myself a Mr Hobby Procon Boy 0.4mm single action airbrush. For £35 you really won't find anything better. It's well suited to car and bike modelling, having enough power to spray colour coats and clear coat with ease. But also you can turn it down finer and paint engine parts, brakes, suspensions and any number of smaller parts. The quality at the price is outstanding. Link below. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10062174 As for paint advice, I wouldn't recommend enamels for auto model making. They take too long to dry and fingerprints are too easily inflicted into the finish. My recommendation would be Zero paints, Mr Color lacquers or Tamiya TS sprays either straight from the aerosol or decanted and shot via airbrush. Alclad make some excellent, quick drying metal colors that will satisfy your every need for anything that requires a metal look. For clear coat Zero clears are really good if a little smelly. A good mask is essential, but in the case of the 2k clear you'll also need gloves, eye protection and a good extractor hood that vents to the outside. However it does give an unrivalled shine like no other. I''ve never had much success with airbrushing primer. So I use cheap Halfords plastic primers for checking my work prior to colour coats and Tamiya Fine Surface Primers after that as a final primer as it is a lot smoother than the Halfords stuff. dbostream
I use an Iwata NEO which I bought on ebay for £45 and I am very pleased with it. I mostly use enamel paint and when I thin it I use thinner from the same manufacturer as the paint. Typically for Revell enamel it is 3 parts paint and 2 parts thinner (color mix).
