James G
Hi All, Apologies if this has been done to death before....I'm wondering about changing my method for gloss coating prior to decaling. I normally brush paint thin layers of (original) Klear and this seems to work all right, but I'm after a really smooth finish, so I have the following questions: 1) Will Klear polish very smooth under micromesh (the finest grades) 2) If not, what is the best alternative gloss varnish? I appreciate that this might be like asking "how long is a piece of string" but I'm keen to hear your experiences - I had heard things about Xtracrylix gloss varnish but will it polish well and stand up to enamel thinners/turps, etc.? 3) How many coats of Xtracrylix do you need to do? Thanks James
rom1
Hi, 1) yes! but the Klear must befully dried 2) I woud recommene Microscale acrylic varnish. Non yelowing, tough, quick drying cheers Romain
shood23
I would say yes but depending on how good/shinny you want the finish all comes down to what grade of micro mesh you start with On an alternative i would suggest zeros 1 or 2k gloss coat both polish up beautifully Shaun
