Good afternoon

Here is my partcipation to this Gb Airfix P40B/C that I started this We I will represent the aircraft in which 2nd Lieutenant Kenneth Taylor http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_M._Taylor scored at least 2 victories against japaness aircraft during the December 7th attack on Pearl Harbor , I will use this decal sheet https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AMLC9003

I wil replace the Airfix seat by a Pavla one (seen here with instrument panel )

I shall enjoy this.

I really like these early P-40's done in Olive Drab.

I will do another Airfix Hawk as 20 Pursuit Group in these colours.

How they must have been the pride of the U.S. Army Air Force before they met the IJN Zeros and European Axis aircraft.

Good afternoon Wayne

If I don't make a mistake in 1941 the P-40 was the most modern aircraft in the Usaac inventory ..

Flown by good pilots (British and Americans ) they obtained some successes against geman and japanese aircraft ..

No doubting that well trained pilots could make a good showing with the P-40, and they played an important part when fighter aircraft were desperately needed by all Allied forces.

I just figure that until these aircraft are tested in the heat of battle, it may be hard to know how they compare to enemy forces, or flight requirements such as altitude performance, range, durability, weapons effectiveness etc...

A small paragraph in a book I have, ( FIGHTERS of the U.S.A.F. by Robert F. Dorr and David Donald ) sums up thoughts of the P-40

"Despite sheer numbers and considerable press coverage ( P-40's with the AVG and elsewhere were often depicted wearing sharks

teeth ) the P-40 remains in history a second-rank fighter, one flown by as many victims as heroes, a classic in some respects but never, at any time, a candidate for greatness."

Clearly Kenneth Taylor qualifies for the P-40 heroes category.

Look forward to his mount being ready for inspection.

Good evening Steve (and all the others ..)

Bad news today I damaged the Pavla seat I intended to use so I turned back to the Airfix seat and added some PE belts and put it in place

I cemented the wings 510436002.jpg

I put the propeller in place and closed the 2 fuselages halves

Good morning Dazdot (and all the others ..)

Thank you .. I think that the problem with the wing roots faced by some others builders of this kit come from moulding problems ...Yesterday I made a dry fitting and it seems that I will not face that problem ( but I keep my fingers crossed ..)..
