This is going to be my second build for this GB:

I thoroughly enjoyed building Dragon's 1/72, Zimmeritted, Panther and Tiger for the D-Day GB so when I saw this online I figured it it would be great for this GB. As of this post it is the first German armour in this GB. Can't wait to get this one started after next weekend. I will be building this when I'm not at home so, like my recent 1/76 Airfix Tiger 1 and Cromwell builds, it will be made with only very limited equipment available.

Kind regards,

Stix

Looking forward to seeing this one come together. I don't have the space to display too many 1/35 models (even though I'm going to do a Tamiya T34/76 1943 for this GB) so it'll be good to see how well the smaller scale Dragon models work. Cheers!

Hi Caszerino. They usually look pretty good and they're nice to build. If you're interested you can see the Dragon 1/72 Panther and Tiger I made for the D-day GB by clicking on the 'Somewhere in France' link in my signature below..

Oh wow, that diorama is awesome! :thumbsup2:

Thank you!

Time for some photos of the sprues and parts from this kit - everything in the box:

The detail on these 1/72 Dragon kits always seems impressive to me:

Lots of small wheels to paint by hand!:

The tracks, PE and decals look good too:

All-in-all it looks like a really nice kit.

It certainly looks that way. I'm glad you took pics of all the sprues and the instructions. I will definitely grab one of these soon. I love 1/35 stuff but I just don't have the room for much of it (if I'm honest, I don't have room to display much 1/72 either but that doesn't stop me from buying kits :D).

The small scale dragon armour is superb...

Couldn't agree more! This will be my third and like the other two I'm amazed how good it looks - now I've just got to make sure I don't spoil it when I make it!

Go for it! - they are really nice kits - I've found the instructions are a bit odd in places but there's usually plenty of people online who have built them before and already discovered any issues with the instructions.

Stix,

 ready and this should be fun build to follow..

Good choice for armor build. :police:

Thank you Houston - the last two Dragon kits I've made were definitely fun builds!

Viewing the contents and combined with what you have done in the past, should be a great build. Lots of road wheels, but at least they are steel rimmed and not rubber.

regards,

Jack

Good point about the wheels not being rubber - that's going to save me having to do a lot of painting with a fine brush!! Thank you.

Wow! Impressive kit! Good luck with it!

It is a really nicely detailed kit - Dragon kits always amaze me in 1/72! Having said that the new Airfix 1/76 Cromwell, I'm currently finishing, is beautifully detailed too - http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234972407-airfix-176-cromwell-iv-tank-small-update-220115/

Thank you.

Hi Houston. Yes I'm fine thank you and I hope you are keeping well. I think you've had the weather worse than us down here in the south of the midlands - but thank you - I will try!

Another added to my viewing list Stix :)

Did the etch come with the kit Stix?

I didn't have any with mine :weep::weep:

Hi wimbledon. Yes it came with the etch. Shame yours didn't have any. A company, I think called Armoury, do a super detailing set which looks pretty comprehensive.

Kind regards,

Stix

This is the next one I decided to start work on. Like with my Skybow Tiger 1, it's nothing exciting - just getting some paint on the wheels; Humbrol 93, Desert Yellow, thinned with water and applied by flat, hairy stick:

The Skybow Tiger wheels are very well detailed in 1/48 as are the these 1/72 versions and they also seem to be looking good under the paint:

16428928195_68c50f7e04_c.jpg

While these were drying I did a bit of assembly on the hull. First I glued the front Zimmeritted plate in place:

Then I attached the rear of the hull:

15808884743_2a6ec8138c_c.jpg

As you can see from the above photos the only bit of filling required was along the bottom edge of the back.

While the assembled parts were setting I started weathering the wheels. As usual I first gave them a dark grey wash:

Like with the Skybow build I shall do most of the weathering on these before I assemble them onto the lower hull.

Speaking of the lower hull - next up was a coat of paint. Humbrol 93 again, thinned with water and applied with a flat hairy stick:

15806415214_1462dc2778_c.jpg

Next I'll get a fair bit of the weathering done on the areas that will be difficult to get at once the wheels are on.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Kind regards,

Stix

Aye up Stix,

Great progress thus far. Look forward to seeing more of this.

Steve

Thank you Steve. I'm hoping to get a little more done over the next couple of days.

Kind regards,

Stix
