eclipse
I'm confused... In France the Chad schemes applied first to the F1CR in 1986 and later to F1C/C-200 for Djibouti, from 1988, was called 'vanille-chocolat'... another was called 'pâté-jambon'...

Lifeline
Really interested to take part in this GB.. Especially since I'm in process of clearing the "not of my scale" Kits from my stash, and apparently I (somehow) have a Kinetic's 1/48 Mirage IIIE in my stash. Growing-up with Tanguy et Laverdure comic, I always want to build a Natural Metal Finish EC 1/2 "Cigognes" Mirage III... So this looks to be a good chance to build one, even though IIRC there's only 2 episodes from the comic which they flown Mirage IIIE, which bear no specific squadron markings. I also have several problems.. Did Mirage IIIE from EC 1/2 ever in Natural Metal Finish? I only found pictures with camouflage scheme.. Been trying to find after market decal which provide the 1/2 EC traditional markings without any success... Anybody ever produce one? Cheers, Mario Edited July 2, 2017 by Lifeline

The only decals I know of are for Mirage IIIC, by Berna Decals, I'm assuming we are talking the same shows which came from the comics? AFAIK it was called different things in different countries. Wez
Well, with just over one week gone we have 26 threads for 29 subjects. Mirage IIIR/5 subtypes dominate with F1's just behind. Your Genial co-host is still swanning around France but will be back in Blighty and back to the bench this week (finally), having liberated a fair bit of wine and cheese into the bargain! Those of you who've made a start, well done and good luck, those of you like me, who are yet to make a start, hope you can start soon. Good luck finding a picture hosting site that allows 3rd party hosting.
Romeo Alpha Yankee
Nice to see such a great response Wez. Once I get my photo hosting issues sorted out I can get into the build and post some pictures.
Avgas
Does anybody have a picture of inside the intakes on a Spanish Mirage F1 in the 3 tone scheme? I'm specifically after colour and whether the camo wraps around the lip of the intake.

In the 2nd post there's a link to a Flikr group for Spanish F1's - does that have anything that might help?

I've right click saved every pic I could find in that group but nothing clear enough (thanks for sharing, it's been extremely helpful in other areas!). I think the problem is there aren't many shots of that scheme because digital photography wasn't a thing back then. I suppose if no one has any close ups, I can do as I please and claim accuracy
eclipse
Well, in fact, paint schemes are standardized . So you can look at whatever version of Mirage F1: http://www.aviationcorner.net/public/photos/8/4/avc_00187484.jpg http://www.aviationcorner.net/public/photos/1/9/avc_00050119.jpg http://walkarounds.airforce.ru/avia/france/miragef1/szh_mirage_f1_27.jpg So, concernant Mirage F1CE, the front part of the mouse is painted in the same brown than the paint scheme, and the inside of the air intake is grey... http://www.airteamimages.com/pics/212/212924_big.jpg http://www.aviationcorner.net/public/photos/5/2/avc_00036652.jpg Edit : to summarize, in the same way as on this picture but with the brown color of the spanish paint sheme http://data3.primeportal.net/hangar/luc_colin3/mirage_f-1cr/images/mirage_f-1cr_03_of_49.jpg Edited July 4, 2017 by eclipse

Yes, we are talking about the same Comic and Shows (although I just found out about the TV Shows few years ago from youtube..) From the reference you guys gave, it showed the Cigognes only have camouflaged Mirage IIIE. So, I think I'm going to build the 1/3 EC squadron marking which came with the kit. Meanwhile, I'll contemplate a reason to have a "Short Term Memory Loss" and order the Berna Decals from Hannants (for the 1st time) and buy Eduard's Mirage IIIC Cheers, Mario Edited July 5, 2017 by Lifeline

Avgas
Is anybody interested in some signatures? I've knocked some up similar to mine but with the roundels of various Mirage operators. So far I've got Spain, Gabon, South Africa, France, Switzerland, Israel, Kuwait and Australia. I'll post them if anybody is interested. But as self-proclaimed 1/72 and helicopter(well mostly....). Really got to have more sensible reason(s) to SWMBO, see... The options are rare for 1/72 "classic" Mirages and 1/48 is rather too big to fit and not be seen on the stash (Well... I'm not saying it's impossible, see...) Flyingdutchman
I have a question regarding the Swiss Mirage 2 tone scheme. Matterhorn decals says FS34094 for the dark green and Xtra decal says 'Grüngrau' equivalent to RLMRLM74. Anyone with suggestions?
