alclad aqua gloss

Hi chaps.

Is it safe to spray alclad aqua gloss over enamels and acrylics?

Being water based, I would have thought it was safe enough, but thought I would ask if anyone has had any experiences with it reacting to certain paint.

I've searched on here, but couldn't find an answer.

Anyone got any insights, before I commit, and ruin a paint job.

Thanks for looking in.

Matt.

Simple answer Matt is yes! I've used it over Humbrol enamel, Mr Color Acrylics, Tamiya acrylics, Revell acrylics and enamel and Alclad! No problems but make sure you have frsh water to put in your colour cup immediately you finish airbrushing to clean it out.

Hi Mat - I've not had many problems airbrushing it. I usually undersides first with a light spray at a medium psi. If all is ok I give it another couple of light coats. It dries quickly and I find it a lot easier than brushing on Klear - I always seemed to get pools forming with that!

Usually I give it 24 hours before applying decals then spray another coat to seal it all in. I use Flory washes and usually give a couple of days drying before applying the wash.

You can also use it for your canopies although I am now trying out the Megiuars stuff at the moment and that seems pretty good

I had the pebbledash problem with an early batch of the stuff. I binned that bottle and bought another and it works fine. My only worry is getting it out of the airbrush after use, be ready with that water as mentioned above.

Thanks for all you insights chaps.

I intend to use a cheap spraycraft airbrush to apply it. It has the advantage of being an external mix brush, so the aqua gloss will only block up the feed tube at the most. It has the advantage of a fairly large spray pattern ( ideal for an overall coat), but is useless for anything else.

This is the one I will be using.....

My advice would be to test every new primer paint or finish you try on a scrap plastic bottle or something like that with all the other products you intend useing on your project. In this way you will save a lot of tears and heartache on your prize model.

The first time I used it , I hated it . I sprayed to heavy to keep it wet looking . It looked awful .

Next I tried light coats . That worked good . Each light coat add the shin .Dry fast . So i never stop spraying tell I was finished . You spray heavy , problem will happen

Also its ready to spray from bottle .

My air brush set up Badger 105 with needle .5
