Revell 1/24 New Style VW Beetle ***COMPLETE***

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Here is another of my early builds for 2015.

A Revell 1:24 scale New Style Volkswagen Beetle, which was another of my purchases from LSA Models.

This is something of a personal project for me as this is the first and only car I have owned since passing my driving test, I will therefore be painting it blue as that is the colour of the car I have. I would also like to create a custom number plate decal, but not sure how to do that.

Anyway here are the photos of the box and sprues.

Update as soon as I get to work on this kit.

Decals are easy enough to do:

Paper and sealer can be had from here:

http://www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk/.-Inkjet-Water-Slide-Decal-Paper_151.htm

You just print the number plate off on an inkjet printer, seal it when dry and then use it as a normal decal.

If you want the same blue as in your real car and will use an airbrush you can get Zero paints from:

http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/

and you should be able to get a custom pot made up to the exact shade.

Thanks Alan,

I won't be using an airbrush on this kit as I don't actually own one and prefer hand painting.

I am going to look into the decals as it would be great to have the proper number plate on the car, but i'm not sure if i will go for it.

Thanks for the links.

No Tamiya X4 paint in my local Hobbycraft, so I will be starting preparation work on the kit by building the chassis etc for the car before painting the body of the car.

Updates will start soon as I am back in work tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,

Here is the 1st update for this kit.

I have begun work on this project as I need to have it ready for painting as soon as the paint for it arrives.

I have so far completed the work on the dash panel and interior of the car (minus inside door panels).

Here are the photos.

Stage 3

Next update when the kit has more work done including the wheels, suspension and chassis.

Funny point : I am building this car as a replica of my own Beetle so it will all be coloured the same as mine. The only difference is that the model kit will be left hand drive, while my car is right hand drive.

ATB,

Rick

Massive progress report.

1) Body shell painted

2) Chassis painted

3) Suspension installed

4) Door panels installed

5) Dashboard installed

6) Wheels assembled and decals fitted

7) Interior installed on chassis

8) Headlights assembled

9) Windscreen wipers and rearview mirror installed on windscreen panel

I think that's all I've done on this one so far today. I have taken photos of everything and will post them later.

More later. I'm hoping to get this ready for decals today. I would imagine this will be the first completed model of 2015 as it has the fewest number of decals to do.

ATB,

Rick
