Hardtarget
Oh, can I be the first to say I hope a Martlet isn't far behind! Well you can make a Martlet IV out of a F4f-4.
lasermonkey
I've always had a soft spot for the Wildcat, so I'm quite pleased about this.

MikeR
Nakajima B5N2 'Kate' Grumman Wildcat F4F4 Dogfight Doubles Gift Set 1:72 A50169 Now that's interesting. That set's definitely tied in to the Battle of Midway. The marking option for the B5N is for the aircraft attributed to Lieutenant Joichi Tomonaga, whilst the F4F has the markings for "Jimmy" Thach's aircraft. Mike. LeVi Tophatter
Sweet!!! That really does look very nice, would like to have a looksy at the wheel bay. The addition of the folded wings is nice too, no hacking, aftermarket or holding up a bank to get the Dragon Hasegawa re-box with this option... Good job!!! sroubos
It's good to see that Airfix are bringing back the option to display flaps and ailerons freely in more and more of their kits. Kate, Wildcat and 111 all ahve this option.
lasermonkey
Two sets of wings too, folded and unfolded. That's very welcome.
Denford
It's good to see that Airfix are bringing back the option to display flaps and ailerons freely in more and more of their kits. Kate, Wildcat and 111 all ahve this option. Wildcat NEEDS this as, when the wings were folded, the ailerons assumed a vertical position: I imagine due to gravity. Both 'Golden Wings' and Wolfpack 1/48 missed this important point. Airfix, unsurprisingly, got it right.
sroubos
Yeah, it seems out of all kit manufacturers Airfix makes the least amount of mistakes in their toolings. Hopefully they won't get complacent. It's quite amazing they release so many new toolings every year and other manufacturers (*cough* Hasegawa *cough*) seem to be satisfied with just re-releasing old toolings with a new decal set (and then having the gall to call it a 'limited edition' and charge a fortune for it). Knight_Flyer
May as well pick one up, be interesting how it compares building against the Hasegawa version. Wonder if Airfix will release an F4F-3 variant.
VMA131Marine
May as well pick one up, be interesting how it compares building against the Hasegawa version. Wonder if Airfix will release an F4F-3 variant. If they don't, the aftermarket is almost certain to release a conversion kit. If I recall correctly, when Hasegawa released their kit as a -3, it was just the standard F4F-4 with instructions on filling in the engraved lines for the wingfold and the outboard guns.
