Hey, we're in the big time now! I'm looking forward to this, and a nice simple single-engine fighter will be welcome after the Eduard Bf 110 I'm reaching an understanding with now. But of course, I'm sure I'll find a way to make it not-so-simple...

First problem is, what actual subject/kit(s) am I going to do for this- I've got everything from fixed-gear Hawk 75 to P-40Q, and 1/48 and 1/32. One thing I've already suggested to myself is using this as an excuse to get the Greymatter Merlin P-40 conversion, but that WOULD be rather ambitious.

I will try to build the 1/48 Mauve Kittyhawk III with some decals from model Alliance.

The model will almost be build SOB with a few bits and bobs.

I will start it a little bit later in the GB. I am moving at the start of the GB to my new home.

Cheers,

Academy eh Old Man, hmm I respect your judgement.

I am not an expert on the type, Sir, and I seem to recall some people have issues with the kit's shape here and there, but I built one a few years back and it practically fell together, which made me feel very happy. I do a lot of limited-run and vintage kits, and this one was a real treat to assemble. I have an Airfix P-40 almost complete in natural metal (at the Air Corps Technical School), and think an 'N' in similar style would make a nice mate for it, a sort of 'first and last' bracket....

Still hoping to enter the Academy P-40N later, but will be in at the start with this, thanks to a ruling by Mr. Mungo our moderator:

It is a YP-37: Curtiss' first attempt at fitting an Allison and supercharger to the P-36 airframe, which attempt led directly to the classic P-40.

I have been planning to start this after New Years for a while. I have the resin LF Models kit in 1/72, but will be doing it as the Air Corps Technical School 10th Air Base Squadron example pictured, not the 'Alaska' scheme the kit supplies.

Excellent! It absolutely belongs in this group build and should be represented. I actually knew a guy who flew one of those, believe it or not!

I would dearly love to participate in this GB, but My current project (1/32 Revell P 40 E) is more than 25% built, and it's my only P 40 in the stash

However the P 40 is one cool aircraft, so I will be watching your builds with interest
