Breaker
So I started my next FAA plane following on from my Attacker. I was going to the Hawk but I fancied another small project rather than a jet. Started mocking up the sub assemblies and started removing the mating surface flaws and flash. I'm using replacement drop tanks from Barracuda and I'll be replacing the wheels but I'm not sure who to go with. I'd like to use Barracuda but they're hard to find so it's either the WEM set with undercarriage or True details. The WEM molding doesn't look as nice as the True Details. Drop tanks were a perfect drop in fit, just needs a small amount of filing on the rear edge to remove the casting. Canopy had a nasty mold line which I've managed to polish out. Sharp knife, Squadron canopy sanding stick and acrylic polish. Prop has had basic painting. Yellow was sprayed first then black over the top, using a 3mm tip size. It might be a bit big though, so might reduce it down to 2mm at some point. Cockpit has been assembled and painted apart from the seat which I want to add some extra parts too. Fuselage halves were glued. Along with some more sub-assembly work. One thing I will be changing from the Attacker build was my choice of paint for the EDSG.
Breaker
Initial thoughts are that it assembles nicely just a lot of prep work is needed on the mating surfaces as they have a very rough surface! The main fuselage doesn't fit the wing at all but it'll be easy to correct with some spaces. I've been thinking about making some adjustable ones up from brass or ally to allow for precise sizing now I've got access to a lathe.

HOUSTON
Breaker , did you ever see Airscale's build of SEA FURY.. Just thought you might like to check it out... it may help with any queries you might have but I am sure and know looking at this that you are capable of building your model quite nicely. keep posting wont you.. I am following this... thank you
Breaker
So the fit of the wings is good in terms of shape.. Bit lacking width wise. Started packing it out Got the wing tips sorted as well. I've attached all the flaps in separate sections to be assembled later. Long run it'll mean a better build. Started trying to find what EDSG I want to use as well, leaning towards Mr. H DSG with some blue mixed in currently.
perdu
I like XF-24 myself but these kind of judgemnts are very subjective By the way, prop tip yellow sections are usually 4 inches so just over 2mm is the usual (2.116582.........) Looking forwards to enjoying this one Looks like you are winning, I love Sea Fury. Just an awesome beastie
Biggles87
Looking good so far. There was a side by side build with a Fisher kit in a magazine some time ago and the Trumpeter version did not look quite right around the nose area. It will be interesting to see how yours turns out, hope it's OK Happy Christmas John
Winenut
Watching with interest. I have 1/72 Special Hobby version in the stash which I'm looking forward to. Chocks away
Breaker
Got fair less modelling done that I expected this holiday! I'm at this stage currently - Next step is going to be the long task of getting all the seam lines and gaps filled and polished!
Breaker
Tried using sprue & glue filler today, suffice to say I won't be buying any more Squadron fillers! Masked and then put a decent amount of the filler in, pressed it into place and left it, can't tell there was a gap now! Just waiting for it to set and then I'll buff it out. You can see the previous gap on the last update. I also redrilled the rivets. Stabs are on as well!
Buzby061
Coming along nicely. Daft question but is the sprue & glue filler normal sprue dissolved in liquid poly? Pete

Skids
This is looking great! I must live in the dark ages as I have never heard of using glue and sprue, any techniques you could pass on

Col.
Tidy work on this one. Have always avoided the Trumpeter Sea Fury due to the scare stories about wild inaccuracy but it looks perfectly salvagable from what I see of your work so far. There's a thread on here somewhere with all the steps needed to correct it but I'm not that fussed. I don't know the aircraft that well, I just think it looks cool! Breaker
Been moving house and without internet for a while, so a couple of updates. Main construction is about complete. I need to do some work on the rivets I've put back in as they're WAYYYY too deep, so I'll have to fill them and try again.
Pete in Lincs
Welcome back to you and your Fury. Yes, Flush rivets. Why do they never look right?
Breaker
I'll probably try using white putty to fill them, wipe over with a cotton bud and hope it leaves a smooth depression hopefully!
Breaker
Managed to tone down my divets a little bits with some Mr Surfacer and Deluxe putty. (the D is intentional!). Got some paint down as well! Tried the three layer blend painting order to try and get some life into the EDSG, I may of put one thin coat too much down though. Will have to see how it looks after a round of clear coat!
perdu
looks like that is working good catch on the deeppressing rivets In all this looks like a very good Sea Fury... Thinking Must stop thinking Must
Breaker
Ha! Get one but put more prep time than I did in and hide the rivets! Anyway, main paint is now on! Got a fair bit of touch ups to do, some paint lifting, couple of areas where I've masked poorly and I want to sharpen the demarcation between the upper and lower halves of the wing.
