Graeme H
Well this is my chance to get this one finished, maybe I started this in 2001 while in Southport Lancashire (called Merseyside by some). I was staying with my Mother in Law, and pretty much bored so got this kit, some bog, and went and got it together rather quickly, now the original Revell decals were for the Demonstrator, not very exciting or good, so I got myself a set of Korean Air decals by Liveries Unlimited, nice I thought. When I got back home to Australia I went through my blue paints, and decided I would have to mix something like Korean Blue, as it didn't exist in the Xtracolors range at that time, now let me point out there are some very talented painters who can mix colours in a heartbeat, I'm not one of them, not even close, and when I started to put the decals on I realized how rubbish I was, so sanded it down with the intention of making it KLM, another blue, and another big mistake, so put it away. I found this part finished when cleaning up my modeling room these last few weeks, and after a 20 month forced layoff caring for my wife, and now that I am able to get back into modelling, I thought this would be the one to kick start me on the path, a true KUTA. Somewhere along the way, I must have painted the wings and tailplane, and they looked quite good, nice I thought, so just need to paint the fuselage white, and I'm a goer, now I managed to get a set of decals for this one, and this is my photo Now the decals included the yellow design for the tail, and the blue, but I thought it would be better to paint it, surely not that hard, paint the fin with a bit of yellow then mask the design, Then paint on some blue, how hard could it be, now if I had thought a bit about this I would have realized yellow Kabuki tape on a yellow tail would be a bit hard to see, so first attempt was a bit off, maybe you can't tell from theses photos, but trust me it's pretty bad. So resprayed the yellow, and will have another go tomorrow, this time I did a printout of the decals sheet, and am cutting the design from Kabuki tape laid over that so I can get it nice and sharp. So that's where I'm at for now.

MikeW
I hear you on mixing colours. Did it once ( for that Ansett orangey-red colour ) and if you stand across the room, shut your good eye and peer directly into the sun, it could look close. Lot of effort on that logo, and looking good. Cheers, Mike
Romeo Alpha Yankee
Looks great Graeme! I think I should pull out one of my shelf of doom airliners once the RP-3 is done.
