logical
What do I need to use to paint PE parts before painting them the proper colour? Can I just use bog standard Halfords car primer? Edited December 17, 2014 by logical
Black Knight
yup. give them a mild 'sanding' with 800 grade wet & dry first to give a key for the paint. I use enamels and I skip doing a primer.
logical
Enamels will be OK on the plane I've got PE to do but the boat needs an airbrush's touch too.
Tomjw
I just use Alclad Primer. No problems. Cheers, Tom.
AngstROM
Just to muddy the water even more, Tamiya Fine Surface Primer -good for metal and plastic! The light sanding prep is also a good thing; I like using a near worn out scrap of sandpaper so as to rough it up without reducing the surface detail. Nigel Heath
I tend to use Tamiya or Mr Color metal primer from a can but Alclad primer is also pretty fine.
