Hawker Typhoon Ib- Airfix 1/72

Recommended Posts

Evening all,

Back along, I chose the Airfix Typhoon with the intention of building something nice and easy quickly. Two months later, it's finally done, and to be honest I'm happy to have it off the bench; not the greatest model I'll ever build. Nothing wrong with the kit at all, I just made a bit of a hash of things during construction and lost a bit of interest. Anyway, here she is...

Thanks for looking, please excuse the dust and crud on the model, it's something I seem to be having an increasing problem with, no doubt due to the length of time it seems to take me to finish a kit these days....

Cheers,

Shaun :)

Great little bird, very neat ! The paint job looks perfect as well the whole kit from my side of the web. The eye of a camera can be unforgiving, you may ask yourself how i know that ?!?

Brilliant build and a good inspiration to start my Typhoon. The hard edged RAF camo style is always a challenge for me.

Well Seamus if I finished a model to such a high standard within two months I'd be delighted. To say nothing of rather surprised  Grand job.

May I ask what masking method you used to achieve such neat camouflage edges?

That's a superb looking Typhoon that looks beautifully finished! Well done. I'm a fan of this kit - enjoyed building one in flight and got another with some Eduard PE to do one on the ground. I like what you've done with yours and will bookmark it for future reference. Thank you for posting.

Thanks for the kind feedback all. I'm my own worst critic and can't see past the faults with the model, but your comments are reassuring and much appreciated :)

Hi Col, masking was done using the trusty blu-tak sausage method. To get the hard edge I simply angled the airbrush to spray into every nook and cranny, rather than perpendicular as you would if trying to gain a softer edge.

Thanks again,

Shaun

Thank you Shaun. Will try that on my next spray job as it looks to have worked perfectly for you.
