AIM-9D and AIM-9M/L Sidewinder - Brassin Resin Accessories

The AIM-9 Sidewinder has been the short-range air-to-air missile of choice for the US Air Force, US Navy and countless other air forces around the world since 1956. Designed around an infrared homing system (with the exception of the semi-active radar homing AIM-9C), the Sidewinder takes its name from a venomous snake that uses infrared sensors to find its prey. The Sidewinder was designed from the outset to be simple to operate and upgrade, a fact well proven by the impending 60th anniversary of the missile's entry into service.

Eduard continue to expand their Brassin range of resin weapons with these sets, featuring the AIM-9D and AIM-9M/L. Each of the missiles is cast as a single piece of resin, while the control fins are manufactured from photo etched brass. The exhaust nozzles for the solid rocket motors are provided on the brass fret too. As a nice bonus feature, the protective ground covers for the seeker head have also been included. The decal sheet is very comprehensive and is just what is needed to make the most of the excellent quality of the missiles.

Conclusion

After market ordnance is always handy, particularly when it's this good. The AIM-9 has been so widely use that I can see this, and future sets, coming in handy for finishing off many kits in the stash. Recommended.
