exdraken
looking forward to it! will it be affordable and better than the Dragon if you don't wanna super detail it?
Caerbannog
looking forward to it! will it be affordable and better than the Dragon if you don't wanna super detail it? Cannot say too much about the Dragon one it in terms of fit as I did not finish. But the detail is certainly not the level of the ZM Horten. Still the Dragon Horten has two engines (quite nicely detailed, though the super detailer will maybe replace them with Aires ones) and the outer wings and engine covers are removable to show some of the internals (or to show the Horten without wings as I think it was found by the allies - could make a nice diorama). There were etch sets for the Dragon one - one from Eduard and Airwaves IIRC but these are even more rare than the kit and probably not worth the money: The instrument panel, harness and some small parts. I would probably not bin the Dragon one for the ZM but I would not try to get hold of the Dragon Horten now either. Personally I will have a look at HLJ, Hobby Easy or Lucky Model for a ZM Horten in the future and hope to build the Dragon one without the "skin" and place it next to the "closed up" Dragon Horten (one day...). The same I plan for the Hasegawa and ZM Shinden. It should make a nice couple. Rene
JeffreyK
That will be my first ZM kit then. I hope it will be out the next time I go to Japan...otherwise Telford 2015? Jeffrey

Homebee
Source: http://www.zoukeimura.co.jp/en/products/sws48_03_ho229.html The internal structure of Jumo 004 has been revealed!!The Junkers Jumo 004 was the world's first axial turbo jet engine used in training and combat. Just like in 1/32 scale, visible front and rear intake cones, nozzle needles, and engine pipes are thoroughly reproduces in this 1/48 kit! What are the Flying Wing's "deceleration devices"?Buckets of Flying Wing, which is not equipped with tail unit, are used mainly for attitude control. Devices for deceleration like airbrakes and drag chutes are mounted on the undersurface of the rear fuselage. Also, drag rudders on upper and undersurface of the main wings undertake the role of rudders that are usually on aircraft equipped with tail unit. When unfolded, the drag rudders create air resistance and slow down the wing. Only with SWS, you can gain a much better understanding of the Flying Wing's mechanism while building the kit!Look inside the cockpit, the pilot's work place!!The pilot's seat is an ejection seat made of pipe frame and metal plate, and footholds for ejection have been made on the front edge of the seat. Based on the documentation and the investigations into the real aircraft, we have recreated as much as possible every detail of flight instruments and operation systems around the cockpit. Everything is packed into a very small space with just enough space for only one person to sit down! It looks like a real fighter! You can recreate a unique cockpit of Horten by yourself! V.P. Av8fan
Another for the must get eventually list. I have to setup specific jars for each kit now. But this is very close to the top of the list for me.

Stashaholic Steve
Currently building the Dragon release. It had been in the stash for a good few years. Some fit issues, but I've had worse. I've seen it go for daft money on feeBay (the nightfighter version in particular), but this from ZM will undoubtedly knock the bottom out of that market for a while until it too goes OOP. - Steve

exdraken
got mine today! looks amazing, with a very very detailed internal structure. but what puzzles me, is the matt/ opaque quantity of therefor semitransparent fuselage skin parts! what are we supposed to do with them? paint them of course one possibility, but for a clear look though the parts they seem to be not clear enough to appreciate the internal structure ... who explains this to me please??. Av8fan
At least it is possible to make the parts more clear. The old man's blog shows it in this build: http://www.zoukeimura.co.jp/en/sentiment/oyajiblog_061.html I guess some extremely fine wet/dry sandpaper(you'd have to very careful with the wet dry so as to not loose detail) and then Tamiya polishing compound? I'd try a test on some leftover clear sprue from the kit if it has the same texture. Just my 2 cents. Here is a a link to another site(sorry) http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=52018&page=14#entry622208 In case you have not seen it, the old man added this set of instructions on his blog. http://www.zoukeimura.co.jp/en/sentiment/oyajiblog_071.html Edited January 20, 2016 by Av8fan
