MOD Leaking that US Marines to fly off HMS Queen Elizabeth

A US Marine can be locked in a padded cell wearing a straight-jacket, be given a bowling ball and a rubber hammer for entertainment, and in short order the Marine will break the ball and lose all the pieces.

If you want your ship to return to port, keep the Jarheads away. :wicked:

I think after they encounter Royal Marine swanning around in his run ashore rig of wimmens frillies, they will be on their bestest behaviour in case they end up sharing the cell.

Its actually not a news headline story, the F-35B orders match the production slots that were already agreed, 617 will be working up as the first RAF squadron between 2018 and 2021, so would only be available for test flying and evaluation with the Carriers. 809 squadron wasn't due to reach operational levels till 2021 with the first of the 2nd batch of aircraft, 617 would only be used onboard in that period in times of emergency which is where the MOD said that Carrier Strike could be available from 2018. The four aircraft of the 14 are the four we were alloted for LRIP-8, the other 10 will be batch 9 and 10 as set way back. The MOD had already told the MP select committee that we would be working with the US to work up and train the QEC class as they would have the numbers of trained squadrons to test the ships.

The only real doubt is when the US will be able to ramp up production to produce full production aircraft with all the identified defects resolved

:mental::tapedshut: I'm saying 'nuffink'......... Except to say that the Harriers we had should have been mothballed up to the time the carriers were ready.

Are we sure its not a Thanksgiving gift to the US.?

I bet there will shortly be a serious surplus of not-catobar-carriers on the market. Royal Navy has a ship without aircrafts, France can't sell their two BCP to Russia... if you want to start building a navy, that's a once in a lifetime chance you shouldn't miss.

For crying out loud, lets just go to AMARC and get our GR9s back, or even better, ponce 50-odd surplus AV-8Bs off the Yanks to bridge the gap.

This whole issue is getting tiresome. We could have had cats and traps on them and bought F/A-18s.........
