After 3 years of going to events when the Lancaster was supposed to be flying, it flew over my house 5 minutes ago. Too low and fast for any photos but gosh, I finally saw her (for all of 2 seconds) :D

The Lancasterflew over us too, I know that she was due to do a fly past at the Black Country Living Museum for their 1940s weekend which would explain she she's over us so low, It's an awesome sight isn't it!

B2 and 4 F-15s in holding for RIAT at about 1430ish.

They were at about 800-1000ft as the cloud base was a little low so we had a good show.

If I could sort out the photo issues I'd put a couple up!!! (sorted it!!!!!!!!!)

I was at RIAT yesterday and realise I should have been there today as the weather is much better and a full flying display (no Raptor yesterday but it displayed today).  My wife is working there with her Air Cadets and has had a most wonderful week so far and will be there for the departure tomorrow.  I did phone her and give her the heads up on the B2 as I believe it was not mentioned in the flying programme...

Hutch (who wishes he bought tickets for sunday rather than saturday)

Out riding my bike today, a Tiger Moth was flying around between Alderbury and East Grimstead, near Salisbury.  A couple of hours later I saw the same or a similar Tiggie stopping around the middle of the New Forest.

We've had a couple of RCAF Hornets flying around here this afternoon for about 30 or so minutes around 3.15 pm.

Maybe something to do with it being the last day of the Calgary Stampede or something.

Just looked up and saw a large four-engined heavy escorted by two fighter jets heading east over Northampton. Not Typhoons or Tornados and not F-15s either. I thought the fighters looked like Su-27s, but thought 'Naaaa, can't be!' A quick check of Flight 24 reveals them to be an Il-76 and two Su-27s of the Ukrainian Air Force. Well I never :)

Just a couple of minutes ago, the sound of a radial engine had me running out of the workshop, just in time to see a Harvard fly over, plus (probably) the same P-51 I saw earlier, heading back from whence it came.

I wasn't sure where to look!

Two CH-53s flew past my house yesterday. We must live by a helicopter training area, because I also sometimes see UH-60s flying in formation; once I witnessed five in a loose gaggle following a local road.

Had a great day today. First up was a Merlin closely followed by a BAF Sea King. Never expected to see one of those again. Both seen flying over the A2 near Kidbrooke. Got home to a very sunny Kent to find a Chinook low and slow right over the house. Rotary heaven!!!

An A400 was doing circuits and bumps at Waddo about 1700 today.

Earlier in Newark I saw a Helicopter. Only a quick glance as it flew

away from me, but I swear I saw the splayed undercarriage of a Whirlwind!

Having heard the distant sound of piston engines, my ears pricked up. As it got closer, I could tell that there were multiple engines, and they were getting very close!

It was eleven Chipmunks in formation (two diamonds of four, led by a vic of three) and they went right overhead! Wish I'd though of grabbing the camera, but I didn't really have the time.

I guess they're practicing for a display, so someone's in for a treat.

Two Vampires and a Mig 17 enroute to Baldonnel for the Bray air display tomorrow and Sunday.  I won't be going to the air display but I do live under the holding area...   Camera at the ready...  I want to see the Seafire...

Don't normally see much here in Lowestoft, odd stuff letting down for Mildenhall , F-15s dog fighting and con trails.

Today though.. An RC-135 Rivet Joint quite low (below the clouds) heading for The Hall, no flaps and moving quite a bit faster than the usual KC-135Rs that always have  their flaps out and throttled back .

I wondered why it wasn't using flaps any ideas and going so fast . Didn't like hanging around anyway.

Hercs have piece of kit that allows the lead ship to fly the others in, the followers "latch on" to the lead ship and change headings at exactly the same waypoint the lead ship took seconds before. I forget what the system is called, someone will know.

There have been cases of the lead ship flying in to hills taking the follower with him. The following Herc has to be quick to cancel the "auto follow" (for want of the right term!) when that happens!

Not a bad week. 5 F-16's making use of the Lichfield corridor after playing in Wales, and 2 warbirds last sunday. The 2nd aircraft of those 2 was the Seafire Mk3, my side profile expertise failed on the lead aircraft though. It *looked* like the Kittyhawk but I thought that was having to cancel its recent engagements.
