Enzo the Magnificent
For the past decade I have been using a Badger 200 airbrush. Single action, jar fed. I have been very happy with it but it has its limitations, which I have worked around. But a few weeks ago I started wondering what it would be like to use a dual action brush. So I have treated myself to an Iwata Revolution BCR. It's brilliant! A different technique to the single action brush is required but it's not any more difficult and I can spray fine edges and mottles freehand. Why didn't I do this sooner?
denstore
Good luck with your BCR. Double actions really aren't any more complicated than single actions. Next step would be to get a gravity fed airbrush. It will give you even finer lines, and less overspray.
Muzz
Sounds similar to my experience, persevering with rattle cans and a Testor Aztec until I bought my H&S Evolution, it's like a whole new world has opened up!
AngstROM
Same. Iwata and H&S are way ahead; I used a Badger 200 since 2005 until last year (borrowed H&S) and bought a 'slightly' pre-owned Eclipse HP BS this year. It's like when I gave in and bought a compressor instead of relying on canned air -only more so! The H&S brushes are definitely better quality, but the Eclipse works superbly in all applications and stays much cleaner and happier than the Badger. Still not cheap (though mine was!), but a very worthwhile investment. I keep finding new things to paint!
