Ex-FAAWAFU
Cracking work on the foremast; that looks really neat. Gutsy move to do it this early in the build, too; I'd have that bent in about 3 seconds flat as I moved it around. Great to see another CVS build; always fun to compare notes, even if our two ships are different.
Guest
Hi the mast not glue on yet ;had fun already; glue one of the masts upside down; now fixed;the mast for 1022 radar, radar and front mast are sitting in another display box;next the middle mast
moaning dolphin
Nice to see another one of these going together, if its like your other efforts will be well worth seeing the progress. Are you doing it as Lusty? I bought the kit as it was an old ship of mine in 2000 but not got round to getting it out yet due to an already overcrowded bench! I would love to be able give you loads of info on it whilst I was on board being a WOO I never paid to much attention to the ship and dont have any reference photos, but if you need to know anything about getting from 5P messdeck to the galley, NAAFI or hanger I could probably help you with that! Cheers now Bob
Martian
Love the mast! I am looking forward to following this build or, as EX-FAAWAFU would probably argue, more like jinxing it! Martin
Guest
Yes, will be Lusty, not brave enough to do all the changes for Ark or Invincible.Just done my first scratch build in 1/700 with HMS Eagle what-if and that took over a year, playing safe with Lusty. Straight build with all the detail I can find on the outside. .Still not made my mind up yet if to leave one of lifts up or down yet.
Ray S
I am really looking forward to seeing how you get on. I had a great 8 months or so with mine, and loved every (most) minute I spent building her. It threw up a few 'challenges' but was most satisfying at the end. All the best, Ray
AntPhillips
Looks great so far, and it looks as if you've got relatively unwarped hull parts too. Looking forward to watching this one.

Jockster
It's a great kit and it's going to be a pleasure following your build! Must be a bit of a mindjob for you looking at this great big hull in 1/350 scale compared to all the recent 1/700 activity from your good self! For all the moans I've read about this kit,I've never seen a bad one built yet and love my own. Already an Airfix classic. Bit stingy on the aircraft though!
Guest
Small update, dry run of the bridge work so far,yes its sooo big to 1/700 ,relief on the eyes,I agree its not that bad a kit,I think some of the reviews have been a bit hard on this kit.

Bodmin
Looks to be going well, particularly with the etched extras. I have this ship in my stash, I watch with keen interest as to how you get on. Best of luck!!!
Guest
Been moving along with the bridge works so quickly ,that l had to start painting already, both funnels and all the black parts on the masts have been painted,I worked out a way to protect then with small bags,so I can paint the rest later, waiting for more Doors to arrive, before I can complete that.I glued the dome on the rear mast before realizing it should be an off white colour. That is now been rectify. Instead of covering in mass of tape ,used plastic bags to cover the bridge works, then taped around the masts,it worked thankfully The funnels, radar 1022 and main mast are still not glued yet.

crennis
Looking good, wonderful etch work but I think the black on the aft mast may extend a little far down, looks like it stops just below the larger of the two platforms: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HMS_Illustrious_on_Exercise_Neptune_Warrior._MOD_45146078.jpg

Certainly true on my steamer, so I assume it would be for Lusty as well.
Guest
Very true,it was just painted bit further down for masking. all painted and masking off, will post photos later.
