Typhoon subs

Recommended Posts

Hi maritime dudes, let me say straight off I know nowt about ship modelling. I want to change that so I've just started building the Revell Typhoon & I got as far stage one when the trouble started. This stage deals with fitting the bow planes, you have a choice of deployed or retracted, neither of which options looks particularly good as both leave a massive gap in the hull, surely its not supposed to look like this?, help me!!!!!!

Hi spaddad, first off the Revell Typhoon is a work of cold war guess work and is very innacurate. Ive built one out of the box, once painted the bow planes don't look too bad.

Suggest you have a look at Flankeman's post on the Hobbyboss typhoon, in the WIP thread.

Back to the revel typhoon, it does go together quite well, the only issue being the retractable periscope arrangement, suggest you glue this in your required position as it wont stay up o matter what you try.

As for the decals, haven't fitted mine yet, on the to do list.

All the best Chris

Cheers for that Chris, I'll check out Flankemans post later. I'm not too bothered about the accuracy of the kit, in fact I'm not really bothered about the accuracy of any kit (am I allowed to say that?). I've had the kit for a while now and just fancied doing it.

Hi spaddad, of course your allowed to say that, a lot of my builds are out of the box, you can get bogged down with accuracy. Its up to the individual as to how they go about there own build.

Sometimes I go for accuracy, but mostly its my version of what im modelling.

Know what you mean ive got at least 4 revell typhoons including the hunt for red October version.

If I get a chance will post pic of kit mentioned.

All the best Chris
