Great trap, Commander. :thumbsup2:

Looks to the manner born. Stable computer assisted approach with a nice shallow angle of attack. And that more or less takes care of any adverse weather and sea state issues, before anyone starts.

Took its time, but it'll be a winner.

Must be CGI, so many knowledgeable people said it was a heap that would never get to a carrier and the free world should continue to fly Harriers for ever......

Great news, but it does look absolutely blinking awful as an aircraft, how did the world go from the lovely looking Sea Hawk and Scimitars to this ?

prior to this, trials were carried out on USS Kearsage, a helicopter carrier

Calm sea, empty deck. Not taking any chances were they? Bet it was a new cable as well.

Yes, usually they try and land expensive prototypes on sinking ships during gales, after first setting the aircraft on fire.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy Russia & China instead?

Of course we could buy Russian & Chinese aircraft cheaper......obviously as the carriers have no Cats & Traps it would make attrition rates fairly high, however don't let that get in the way of people knocking the pig ugly F-35...

Looks like a very professional job. One key requirement of a carrier-based fighter ticked off. :)

'nuff said.
