Homebee
Next Special Hobby Fairey Firefly 1/48th kit will be a U.Mk.8 - ref.SH48166 Source: http://www.mpmkits.eu/2014/11/sh48166-fairey-firefly-u-mk8-box-art.html SH48166 Fairey Firefly U Mk.8 - box art Our upcoming Fairey Firefly Mk.8 model will be offered in two boxings. The other of these two is the U Mk.8 version, which will be available under cat. no. SH48166. We are happy to present its box-art here, usual Standa HajekĀ“s masterpiece. Check the picture carefuly, you will find something quite uncommon there... Well, no need to worry, Standa did not forget to add a pilot into the cockpit. The letter U in this version designation indicates that this aircraft was a remotely controlled drone used for anti-aircraft artillery practice. tonyot
Me too,......it would be nice if they did the earlier drone too using the Mk.4/5 kit. I really like the Special Hobby box art at the moment,........wonderful artwork! Cheers Tony Edited November 4, 2014 by tonyot
heloman1
Great news, I'm with Tony re the earlier drone. I remember seeing a load of them outside the Fairey's hanger at Ringway (now Manchester Int. AP), must have been the late fifties resplendant in their cream and red. Nearlymen
I'm with Tony on this and think that the recent Special Hobby Box art is superb, especially the Fireflies ! Never thought I'd see a decent injection moulded Mk 7 and especially a 'U mk 8' ! Good on you Special Hobby ! Kampartiger
Lately i hv been buying SH Fireflies because of two good reasons. Firstly.I love the plane and would love to build some examples of the user of it and secondly,is the excellent boxart. My favourite is the one that depicts the mk.7.Simply fabulous! Edge
I'd love to see all of these recent Firefly releases scaled down to 1/72. Blasphemy to some I know, but for those of us with less room, or a want to build a fair few of them, it makes more sense. Me?? I want more F & FR.1s, Mk.5s, AS.6s, T.7s, U.8s & 9s please!!
Learstang
I'm with Edge; I'd love to see these very late mark Firefiles (AS.6 on) in 1/72nd scale. Nonetheless, it's nice to see someone come out with them in any scale. Regards, Jason
