Hi

Decided on doing typhoon ZH-L, JP906, 15 october 1943, 266 squadron, harrowbeer.

Would it be three blade prop, small tailplane, fishplates ?

Type of cannon barrels ?

Cardoor or bubbletop ?

Cheers

Jerry

Hi Jerry,

My guess is:

Three blade

cardoor, but no aerial through it, as whip aerial used instead (same as bubbletop one)

Fully faired exhausts (the fairing with skirt)

Full cannon fairings

Fishplates

Small tailplanes

Sky spinner and tail band

Typhoon id stripes under wings

No yellow band on upper wings

No rockets

250 or 500 lb bombs, with rack in early, slightly inboard position

Both landing lights in wing leading edge.

Other small things:

Two cockpit vents on port side.

Probably had original tailwheel, not the anti-shimmy one (not sure when they were introduced actually)

Gun camera on starboard side of radiator fairing (earlier cardoors had it in the wing)

Blade IFF antenna (forget the proper code name) under fuselage

hi

Many thanks for the replies, ideal, so it seems the only parts i need to make, seem to be exhausts and maybe a tail wheel.

And of course a canopy which i will try to do first.

Cheers

Jerry

I'm sure the kit includes three types of exhausts- unfaired, full fairing and the unskirted fairing.

The cardoor canopy also needs a smaller cutout under the windscreen, so some filling of the deck in front of the windscreen will be needed. It'll also need a triangular head armour piecepiece, and other bits under the canopy.

Hi Jerry

Ben ha spec'ed the Typhoon correctly but if you want a photo you'll find one in Osprey Ace no. 27, and a profile. Drop me a pm with your email as I think I have another ref I can send.
