gazza l
Hi all, Just finished this kit, despite the known scale problems with the kit, it builds up very nicely, on par in detail with their MK IX Spitfire I finished a few weeks ago. Painted in the colours of Wilhelm Schilling's aircraft circa Feb 1944. Finished using Xtracolor enamels and weathered with an oil wash and pastel chalks. As usual comments and criticism welcomed, cheers gazza l.
colin
Problems with the kit or not, you've done a mighty fine job there. and it looks like a 109G to me
Buzby061
Gorgeous Gustav. The scale issue probably won't show unless you put it next to a Hasegawa one. Pete
Duncan B
Yes, that has turned out very nicely. I have one in build at the moment so I hope it turns out as nice as your one. As well as the scale issue, Eduard also got some of the marking options wrong, for instance IIRC this particular fuselage scheme is for an ERLA built Gustav but they have mixed up the serial number and wing colour scheme with Schilling's other aircraft (the ERLA one would have had the fir tree demarcation). Spitfire31
That's a really convincing Gustav to ny eyes. Beautiful build and finish! : With the flaps fully deployed on a Bf 109, the ailerons also drooped, some 11° IIRC, to increase lift further… Elegant work! DominikS
Although oversized this kit definitely looks like Messerschmitt. Only legs are too long. Great build. I wish Eduard redesigned their Bfs. I'd buy trop versions from Africa.

Troy Smith
That tail band looks very pale for RLM 24, it looks pale blue? RLM 24 is darker. Maybe just the way it's photographed though. Got me searching, looks like Eduard can't do markings research very well either. Too thin borders on the 1 and bar, and I'd say the fin/ rudder had been oversprayed, note the blotches over the swastika and pale line showing because of the deflected rudder, but not deflected when sprayed. Eduard profile Excellent build and finish though, can't fault that!
BerndM
A flawless and well presented Gustav, thumbs up, looks very nice ! It is on the modeller that makes the plastic shine :-)

Yes, I think the legs look to long too, they also need to have a bit more of a forward angle and a little more splay. That tail band looks very pale for RLM 24, it looks pale blue? RLM 24 is darker. You're probably right on the shade blue I used, it was a shade I mixed up to roughly match the colour in the instuctions. Ah, right. Yes, if the image above is the same as the instructions, it's too light Pity, xtracolor do the colour http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/X218 The gear legs also have these weird rods moulded down the front of them, there are rods, but not like Eduard have them! one final point which may help on future builds, the fuselage actually has a seam on the top and bottom! Then there's the dilemma of how much seam! Not terribly clear, one of those details hard to get a photo of! Unrestored 109G-6 in Australia. better, but a restored G-10 It so automatic to remove a seam like this....until you you get told....guess who has spent too much time on model forums! The bottom seam is similar, as the fuselage was two halves..just like a kit Pics from the 109 lair walkrounds BTW http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/walkaround/611943/kp.611943-02.jpg Eduard are apparently going to retool their 109, and Zvezda are planning on doing some G variants. Their 109F is a really accurate kit, so a G from them should be as good.
