Revell 1:48 Phantom FGR2 - 74 Sqd - 'The Tigers'

Recommended Posts

Ok more Phantom obsession - this time the Revell 1:48 version! I decided to do this as FGR2 XV474 from RAF Wattisham in 1992. I used Xtradecals for this and they went on a treat. Otherwise it is OOB and it was quite an easy build. I used Gunze Mr Color for the greys, Alclad for the exhausts etc and Alcad Light Sheen varnish which I think works really well.

I started this in the summer and realised recently that I had 5 kits at various stages so needed to get them finished off. I have also just finished a 1:72 Fujimi Phantom and hopefully this weekend I shall have finished off my Hasegawa 1:48 FAA Phantom which I will post up when done.

Any comments welcome

Chris

Well thanks for all the kind comments - very much appreciated. This was the Revell re-boxed Hasegawa kit and I bought it for £9.99 years ago. If I'd known then what it would cost on EBay to buy another one now I would have stocked up!

Point taken about the photos - I took them rather quickly this morning as my wife was due home at 2pm and I was supposed to be working from home!!

Currently finishing off the Hasegawa 1:48 Silver Jubilee phantom and everything has gone well until of course the end! I knocked off both stabilisers and made a right hash of the nose wheel landing doors! Anyway I will upload when finished for your critique! I also have two of those Eduard US Navy Phantoms which I bought a few months ago and am itching to get stuck in to!

Cheers

Chris

Now that is really nice, really nice. Nicely restrained levels of weathering and high/low lighting, Imparts a real dense of weight and solidness (?)

Thanks for showing - probably one of my favourite Phantoms on here.

cheers
