Nigel Heath
Hmm, g-usa very kindly gave me this kit while I was over in Texas on holiday with him and I could not help but start it while in my hotel room there. I don't think there is any aftermarket available for it so this will be a pretty much out of the box build for me (as much as it goes for me anyway). It is quite an unusual aircraft that never actually got produced, here is the quite attractive box art (and I think this will be the version I will be building): Here are the sprues which are very nicely moulded: The decals and clear parts are also pretty good: Given the limited resources available in my modest Texan hotel bedroom, I managed to clean up some wing parts and glue together the centre wing section: A dry fit of parts revealed this quite extraordinary aircraft taking shape: Hmm, me thinks this should be an interesting project. What do you think? Bye for now, Nigel
S5 modeller
Woohoo, here we go again! Good start on an unusual plane there Nigel. Sorry, but can't beleive this will really be an OOB build. Looking forward to more updates.

Nigel Heath
Woohoo, here we go again! Yes we do, hold on tight. It was totally in character of g-usa to give me this kit (and two others). A most generous act. He did promise me some steaks from AA but he is now living out his life in pasture so those may not materialise. Shame that.

Nigel Heath
Well I hope so Karl. I was quite late flying back into Aberdeen tonight and we had a committee meeting as well so modelling time was in seroiusly short supply. I did manage to modify the daft Revell box to my preferred format of top opening: You may note that the sprues are already quite cleared out due to my work back in Texas. There were some ejector marks in the wheel wells which I filled using a new tool also acquired in Dallas: The detail provided for the cockpit is quite respectable and given the limited viewing provided by the fairly small opening is probably good enough as it is The seat provided has odd dimensions, with the seat base longer than the seat back, I am thinking of cutting it back where indicated: Here it is in position: I was also able to glue the bomb bay into the engine side of the fuselage, it is quite nicely detailed: But maybe some additional work could be done there. Well, bye for now, Nigel
Nigel Heath
Tonight I glued on the rudder pedals: But looking at the layout of the cockpit the dimensions are all wrong: It looks like the pilots legs would have to be about seven feet long. I will have to have a think about that and maybe scratch build a new seat, as well as repositioning the pedals and joy stick. While thinking about that I cleaned up the filler in the undercarriage wells using these tools: I was then able to glue the two wing halves together: Not much progress to be sure but I hope you will forgive me for the lack of forward momentum. Maybe more will be achieved tomorrow. Bye for now, Nigel
perdu
I hate, simply detest phoney German WW2 airplanes but as it's you NIgel I'm IN That does look like it's going to need your attention to putting ne of Herr MartinBakkerSchnellSitzen Mark 3 in it though Meteor nose obviously, I wonder if some clever MI5-ist found the Jerries plans and passed them over to the Gloster Aeroplane company for assessment
Nigel Heath
I'm IN This is of course excellent news. I have no idea what I'm going to do about that seat and cockpit, it is pretty hopeless.
georgeusa
With Nazi genetic research and breeding programs, perhaps someone thought by the end of the war all German Aryans would be 7 feet tall? To me, the nose looks like it was grafted from a Henschel 129.
Pappy
G'day Nigel, 'Nother masterpiece in the making. A small point though, I think that you have stuck the rudder pedals on upside down. Or is that part of the experimental nature of this a/c? I have this kit in my stash so looking on with interest cheers, Pappy
perdu
As so often I remark these days I agree with him heel stops used as toe stops? Darby
Don't worry about the distance of the pedals. I can't remember if they can be seen properly anyway. Just go mad with the scheme
Nigel Heath
I have to agree that the rudder pedals do look upside down but in my defence the Revell instructions clearly show this is how they intended them to be mounted: I don't think they will be that visible anyway so I will have a ponder if they need further work. I have spent most of tonight scratch building a new seat, this is the design I came up with along with the new side panels: It still requires some tidying up but this is how it compares to the ergonomically, highly suspect kit offering: Tonight I also found that my lovely grippy tweezers had a hidden weakness after they broke in half: I will have to have a think about how to fix those.
