stevej60
Did Heller not have a 1/72 kit of this aircraft in their collection?,Revell have re popped a few of their kits recently a possible re box.

stevej60
Thought it was a C-118 Could be just remember it from a few years ago in civilian colours, just seemed an odd aircraft to release as a new tool especially in 1/72 they have played it generally safe in the last two or three years with mainly WW2 big bombers, sea planes. mungo1974
Heller did the DC-6/C-118,as far as i know only Mach2 have done a DC-4/C-54 in 1/72....a kit which got less than steller reviews. No doubt Revell will include markings for Gail Halvorsen's Berlin Airlift 'Candy Bomber'.....Hopefully it'll make a nice stablemate to Airfix's recent C-47/Dakota kit
Graeme H
Heller only ever had the Dc 6 / C118 in several different boxings, and versions, never a DC 4 / C54 Mach2, Rareplanes, and conversions of the Heller DC 6 have been the only 1/72 game so far
Huub vD
Could be just remember it from a few years ago in civilian colours, just seemed an odd aircraft to release as a new tool especially in 1/72 they have played it generally safe in the last two or three years with mainly WW2 big bombers, sea planes. for a couple of years it is a public secret that Revell had a 1/72 DC-4 in there to do list, so a C-54 does not come as a surprise. Mach 2 had something that tried to be a 1/72 plastic injection model of a DC-4/C-54. Heller has a DC-6 not a DC-4/C-54.

Rabbit Leader
A decent kit of this classic aircraft is long overdue. Plenty of options for either the Military or Civil modeller's out there. Let's hope they keep the ball rolling with other members of the Douglas family. Cheers. Dave
Paul Bradley
Nice! Think of the civvie possibilities - and a North Star conversion, perhaps, to do a BOAC machine....

Dave Fleming
RAF SEAC markings would be my choice!
Albeback52
DC-6 & DC-7 to go with it would be nice Allan
Truro Model Builder
It will be a decent size model, about 50cm wingspan and 40cm length. Sit very nice alongside a Stratocruiser and a Connie.
occa
I am not a rivet counter but I only hope they get the general shapes and proportions correct ... Unlike with their Halifax
Paul J
Heller did the DC-6/C-118,as far as i know only Mach2 have done a DC-4/C-54 in 1/72....a kit which got less than steller reviews. No doubt Revell will include markings for Gail Halvorsen's Berlin Airlift 'Candy Bomber'.....Hopefully it'll make a nice stablemate to Airfix's recent C-47/Dakota kit I don't need reminding about the MAch DC-4/C-54!! Mine is done in the Buffalo colours somewhere here on BM. BUt.... I am chuffed to bits on seeing that there will be a new BETTER tooloing of the 4!! Nice! Think of the civvie possibilities - and a North Star conversion, perhaps, to do a BOAC machine.... That would be the Argonaut rather than NorthStar which, as hacker says, is the RCAF version. tonyot
RAF SEAC markings would be my choice! That is exactly what I thought too as I have these in mind for my Mach 2 kit,....a nice camo SAAF one would be my second choice. Great news Tony
kev67
Were these used in the Berlin Airlift, would be nice to see a HP Hastings in 1/72
Radleigh
Lovely, it was only recently I was looking at my Heller DC-6 thinking a 4 would be nice along side it.RTAF DC-4 would be nice I think... just need the decals!
Paul J
Were these used in the Berlin Airlift, would be nice to see a HP Hastings in 1/72 The C-54 was certainly used in the Berlin Airlift. But no matter how the kit appears, its got to be miles better than the MAch kit! Lots of other operators civil and military come to mind. Might have to have another go at a Buffalo one..... Graham Boak
I didn't think there were any in SEAC markings, were they? Only standard transport markings on bare metal? The obvious RAF one would be Churchill's own Commando.
AntPhillips
I also have the Mach 2 kit, with a long term aim of combining it with a Heller DC-6 to make it somewhat more buildable, that being said, I've seen some great builds using the Mach 2 kit, but they are silk purses from a pigs ear.
