Tamiya, Quad Gun Tractor, 1/35

Recommended Posts

First post here, lads.

This is Tamiya's 1/35 Quad Gun Tractor. I built it straight out of box. Painted with Pactras, weathered with AK-47's products. The tow chain on front bumper is also AK-47. It is also my first finished kit after 10+ break i modelling hobby. Any contructive criticism is more than welcome. Enjoy. There is a workbench topic i WIP section.

Thank you, lads, that means a lot. Yeah - the decals are showing. I put a layer of acrylic varnish before decals and a layer after, but the film showed off, especially after weathering. Well, something to work on in next projects.

Excellent attempt there, I followed your WIP as I have this in my stash and was mightily impressed. Just one question, can you run through how you did your chipping. it does looks very realistic!

Cheers now

The chipping effect. That is quite easy to do if you apply it in right places. First - the edges - it's a great place to start. I did them with Chippin Effect paint from AK-47 and round brush. I wet the brush and paint the edges. Important: i do it not with a tip of the brush, but the side. To make them look random i let my hand shake :) In some points brush will press hard, make bigger chips and in other places it will not touch the surface. This way the chips are different sizes and shapes, they're not similiar and symetric. On flat surfaces i make it with a tip of small brush. Larger groups of chips - on the doors and other places, the crew used a lot - i make chipping with a sponge wetted in paint. I first try it on a piece of paper 'till the effect is satisfy. Then i do it on a model. I'll try to do some pictures on my next project to show it in graphic way. :)
