Thank you BerndM. Yeah I really enjoyed making them - I have just been looking at your 3 tanks and they look great! Well done.

You created a great szene, love the black and white footage as well, there Dragon kits are not cheap, but worth the money.

Thank you, will post one more these days

I managed to get the Panther at a reasonable price, at the time, off Amazon - I think i was lucky though. The Tiger did cost me more but I ended up getting it from a model shop and I needed it fairly quickly to meet the deadline for the D-Day Group build the diorama was entered in.

Kind regards,

Stix

Dragon 1/72 kits are definitely overpriced at the UK RRP.....Especially their more recent releases which are akin to unpainted diecasts and have moulded on detail that one would normally only expect to find on a quick-build kit.

If you are interested in 1/72 armour I strongly recommend consulting the 'Henk of Holland' and 'On The Way!' websites as a guide to your puchases:

http://henk.fox3000.com/index2.htm

http://www.onthewaymodels.com/

There are also a number of detailed commentaries in our own review section:

http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/forum/464-kits/

I've always considered the Revell 1/72 Pz.IV Ausf H to be the benchmark for Braille AFVs.....It's not perfect, but it's not too far off and what it most notably lacks is unlikely to be found in the offerings of other manufacturers (ie: zimmerit):

Revell: http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/RV3184

Dragon: http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/DN7497

You can check out the parts of the respective kits on Henk of Holland or OTW!, but to summarise, the Revell kit is superior in almost every regard, the only advantage of the Dragon kit being that it's tracks are of accurate pitch.....But they are also DS-100 bands and thus prone to mismoulding & distortion, twisting & creasing, not to mention crumbling to dust if you use the wrong sort of adhesive or primer on them.

You decide! :wicked:

(I should add as a caveat that the older Dragon 1/72 Pz.IV Ausf F, F2 & G kits are superb, way better than their Ausf H, indeed they are superior to the Revell Ausf H kit in many ways, but they are also significantly more expensive.)

Yup.....If you add that and a set of OKB Grigorov tracks (not sure if they do sprockets) and some etched schurzen you are getting very close to the perfect Braille kit IMHO.

Here is a fine build of the Revell Ausf H & Ausf J kits:

You can find the OKB Grigorov flexible resin tracks here:

Sorry for waffling in your thread Stix. :sorry:

With all the help and support you've given me throughout this project you are more than welcome to waffle on as much as you like - I find it very informative waffle!
