Mike
Arado 234 Landing Gear Bay Set (48026 for Hasegawa/Revell)1:48 SBS Model The Hasegawa kit is a lovely piece of plastic engineering, but getting on a little now, and expectations of detail levels have increased since then, and the main gear bays looks a little two dimensional. This is one of the first samples we've received from Hungarian company SBS Model, and we've been impressed by both the quality of the products, as well as the variety already in their catalogue. Arriving in a nicely appointed card box with fully printed exterior, the box contains a bag of resin parts, a bag of Photo-Etch (PE) parts, and a printed instruction sheet. This set replaces the kit parts with resin inserts that improve the detail markedly, requiring just the removal of the pouring blocks with a razor saw or motor tool. There are also a pair of PE parts on a small fret that attach to the inner lip of the bay before the resin is added, which completes the job. There are plenty of wires and unions moulded in, plus rib-work to the rear, as well as a plethora of oval inspection panels, which should look great under a coat of paint. In addition, there are a pair of super looking parachute housings for the tips of the RATO units that were carried under each wing on pylons to get this beast into the air in good order. To fit these, you need to remove the pointed area of the RATO bottle so that the 'chute can fit flush with the lip, and the retaining straps should then link to the rim to give a much more realistic look to the exposed fabric of the 'chute.ConclusionNicely detailed, easy to install and well made. There's a lot to like about these simple updates from SBS.Highly recommended to any fans of the Hasegawa Blitz (me included). Mike
We'll be giving Csaba more airtime soon, as not only does he have good products, but he's a jolly nice chap into the bargain with a healthy outlook on modelling I need to pick up another set of these at some time for my third ( ) 234

Devilfish
Really not worth the bother, for the tiny amount that is visible through the undercarriage door.......
