OzH
Hi all This is my first attempt at a full white metal vehicle, so go easy on me!! I was perusing the stash yesterday and my eyes settled on this A Smith Auto Model Nubian 6x6 Carmicheal Fire Tender. I had bought this off ebay an while back with the intention of building it as one of those you used to be able to see across the fence when visiting Yeovilton A days worth of cleaning and assembling the 3 main components: Some dry fitting I still have these three pieces outstanding, not sure where they should go as they’re not called out in the instructions that I can see, I think they fit under the cab some how.. can anyone help?? heloman1
Nice choice for your next build Oz, are the parts one left not the floor mats for the rear cab? Then looking at the pics above maybe not. Colin
OzH
Hi Colin Nope, neither will fit in the cab area, grid on the right, I think is a bump/skid plate for under the forward diff. Its the other two that I can't work out at the moment, top left looks like a radiator or something like that, but can't see where it would fit... Thanks though Oz
richellis
Looks good, Ive done a few of these metal kits in the past, I would think the grid is a guard for the underside, as for the other two, could the one be the cab rear wall?

Rishi
Hi, Beautifully deatiled kit. Can the V engine be displayed after assembly? I have one ASAM Kenworth kit without engine. How are u going to fix the parts - soldering or glue? Hope to see more soon. I hope www.asam.co.uk will be able to help on the pannels. Cheers, Rishi
OzH
A quick update on the Fire Tender I think I’ve just about sorted where the parts are going now.. Rishi, at the moment its all being superglued, just hope it lasts!! I undercoated and the cab is painted in Nato Black, then decided to add some details… Re-painted Nato Black and given a Klear coat

phildagreek
Something you don't see a lot of, do you just use superglue to build it?
All Simmo
Hi Ozh Its a coincidence that I have just built some of these I work for ASAM and have done for some 20 years on and off, your correct about the dif guard and the grills are from the promo chassis we did for Scammell and his part is in the mold so it gets included, as for the other bit I'm not sure it may be for one of the other versions we do but I cant find it on the ones I have!! PS super glue should be fine but it is better if you solder the big bits together! Edited October 24, 2014 by All Simmo
