richellis
Well, I was going to do a big Scania heavy hauler next but KFS is out of stock with some parts I need so I went to plan B, I spotted a snow plough when doing an airport run a while back, MAN by richellis1978, on Flickr made a start today, added a 3rd axle but I was lucky the Revell kit had a long chassis so I didnt need to chop and extend it, the axle is a spare I had in, with some air bags from the spares box. the cab needs some work as the kit has some aerodynamic covers over the cab steps, and the cab , and bumper is moulded as one. Ive split the cab bumper so I can scratch build some steps and make it easy to make the plough parts. Oddball
Make sure and replicate that broken aero corner on the passenger side, someone's been careless. Odd.

richellis
Some progress here, cab steps have been scratchbuilt, as has the ballast weight over the rear wheels, a resin Right hand drive dash has been fitted and some interior walls made as the kit has none! SONY DSC by richellis1978, on Flickr SONY DSC by richellis1978, on Flickr I need to fight the carpet monster for one of the cab spot lamps, and some more sanding and work is needed on the chassis before it hits paint, some grey primer is on the inside of the cab also. Im holding off the plough parts hopeing to get some more pictures, Im also thinking about the trailer....
Rishi
Here is some serious scratch building. Very nice. The snow plough any plans? I too was thinking of making one snow plough in 1/87 Oshkosh. I think some have salt spreader dump box and also some are with snow blower. Here are some useful websites, http://oldcarandtruckpictures.com/Oshkosh/ http://www.heavytruckphotos.com/kenworth-hs.html http://www.flickriver.com/groups/1660531@N22/pool/interesting/ The Findlay airport Oshkosh is very interesting 4WS. richellis
I put this build in the annual KUTA GB, and its made me do some to it! I got a Revell Unimog at SMW with the snow plough and gritter body, Ive used the plough attachment parts, and Ive cut the kit blade down just to leave the mounting bar and plates, the blade is a tube off a silicone sealant tube, lots of detail to be added but it looks like a snow plough now! bzn20
Brings back memories of a Snow Blow alert (officially Operation Black Top, Bags of Urea crystals (pigs urine). Waste of time too(the ones I did anyway),it was still snowing horizontally. Imagine sweeping, thats SWEEPING with a broom, a runway and all this Thunderbird wheeled gear aswell. We had stuff with Derwent engines, rotary brushes, blow job trucks.Keep the Black Top,not in a Blizzard though. After a sesh on a Black Top my hands stung (and stunk!) with mild frost bite and Urea eating into small cuts in hands. Good modelling! shawty82
Glad to see you've made a start on this! Hope the pics I took for you help lots. This vehicle is in the same location a fair amount so let me know if you need some more pics, may be able to talk nicely to the servicing place where it parks to get some interior and detail shots. richellis
I wouldnt have been able to do this without the shots you took for me, if you could get a couple of the inside as Im guessing what is differant off a standard MAN, and what is special to this. Also if you see the trailer/ sweeper is tows some shots would be great. Thanks
richellis
Well...... Its been a while but a house move meant no den for a while, but I now have somewhere to build stuff again, first on the bench was this, I need to finish one or two this year! A few days have seen it painted, and wheels on, needs some detail painting, and a few more bits before decals go on, I also need to spend some time on the plow attachment before that gets any paint adding. Excuse the pics, they are off my phone!
