madaboutmodels
Afternoon All, Seeing as ive posted some of my Luton and Gatwick Photographs i thought id share some of my Stansted Pictures. Stansted is my closest London Airport, a majority of the flights are Ryanair, but you do get a lot of corporate flights and Cargo Services, which make the 2 hour drive worth while! Anyhow, here are some of my recent photos at Stansted! Paul J
Some very interesting airlines and types away from the norm there. I like the Fed EX DC-10!1 Don't seee many of those these days! ( And yes I know they are MD-11 s BUT I like to call them by their older familair names!) Keep 'em coming Bradley.
bzn20
That 1st shot of the FEDEX MD-11 (sorry Paul!) Is so good against the dark sky. The Saudi A340.. Is that a private job? Last question ..Is the Ryan Air hangar the old Heavy Lift one opposite side of the airfield to the Diamond Hangar.
bobgpw
Excellent photos of aircraft I see nearly every day. Sorry Paul but an MD11 ain't no DC10! Totally different bird but still has excellent performance. Always watch them inside 4 miles from touchdown as they are slippery beasts. Empty MD11 on departure to LFPG must be one hell of a ride as they climb like homesick angels. The Ryanair Hangar (Hangar 10) is a recent build, just to the east of the Diamond Hangar (H08). My office overlooks all of this - EGSS control tower. Best view in Essex.
bzn20
Thanks Bob.I was unlucky enough to work in the Inflight Hangar for a week (TNT BAe146)
bobgpw
Inflite? Isn't that all champagne and cucumber sarnies over there?!! Ahhh TNT 146's or indeed any 146, gradually being caught up by any following aircraft - including gliders.... Fortunately, after KLM Buzz got rid if theirs, you only really saw 146's at night hauling the mail.
bzn20
Yeah,TNT Overnight! Inflite, a bunch of East London market traders with spanners!

Cheers, the sun came out just in time for the MD-11! Yeah, the Saudi is Private, it was previously Government owned... Cant help you with the Hanger, Heavylift was long before i started taking photos, im only 18! Excellent photos of aircraft I see nearly every day. Sorry Paul but an MD11 ain't no DC10! Granted it is a pig to work on, but i see them everyday at Norwich Airport, my local!
Paul J
Cheers Paul! This is a DC-10 Biman Bangladesh Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 S2-ACR by Bradley at EGSH, on Flickr Cheers Bradley. As I said earlier I know MD11 are different...somewhere..(length, wingtip fins, winglets and other stuff) but to me still DC10 in shape. I'm not fussy when it comes to airliners; though I like them a little bit. They are still aeroplanes. Oh and another one that has a type name issue. The Boeing 717! As I see it, it is still very much a DC-9 variant!!! Now if Boeing stuck on a classic Boeing nose like the 707, 727, 737, then yes I'd go along with it being a 717. But its not and so I will still call it a DC-9(variant!!!).

In my opinion the 717 is a DC-9, after all when it was designed it was called the MD-95, The only difference is the engines, its still got that 1960's wing!! Terrain Safe
BTW the code for Stansted is EGSS not EGSH as you link says in the first post. EGSH is Norwich. The MD80 is flying for Air Moldova.

The MD80 is flying for Air Moldova. I'm perfectly aware what the ICAO code is for Stansted.., I'm also aware that EGSH is Norwich, I only live 5 mins away from NWI... If you actually click on the link it takes you to the London Stansted Airport - EGSS folder.. My flickr name is Bradley T EGSH, my local Airport, Norwich, hence EGSH appears in the web address, after all, it's my flickr name. Yep, I know the MD was on the Moldova flight, I batteled the traffic and road works to go down for it haha
madaboutmodels
And the fin and rear fuse pointy bit! This is true, forgot about that when writing that but... Inherited it's screwdriver from the MD80 and it's slanted tail from the MD87, the end result is one ugly aeroplane!!!
bzn20
Pretty sure the DC-9 wings only had slats from the -30 onwards (-40 being a -10 /-15 fuse with -30 wings built for SAS initially some other operators followed)

garryrussell
The DC 9-40 was longer than the -30 and was only ordered by SAS and TDA It was the 20 (21) that used a 30 wing on a 10/15 fuse and was only bought by SAS The ex MD-95 is a Boeing 717-200, not to be confused with a Boeing 717-100 which is a C-135 although the Rivet Joints are Boeing 739 So it's not quite correct to call it just a Boeing

Jonny Thanks Jonny, IF you drive round the back roads, through birchanger you come to a small round, you can see the airport through the trees. Go through the trees and you will see the fence, several mounds overlook the fence, stand on them and hey presto! If you google stansted spotting you will find it online
