Paul J
Lovely selection of pics Bradley. I probably see all these most days from work where they fly close to or over my home with the wind in the right direction. Love those Air Transat Airbusses!! bzn20
Good pictures Bradley! Why do some -8k5's of Thomson have the upper and lower winglets? Is the "double version a retrofit or do they come off the line like that? Cheers

I probably see all these most days from work where they fly close to or over my home with the wind in the right direction. Love those Air Transat Airbusses!! Cheers Paul, Its great to see the A310's, an increasingly rare sight! Good pictures Bradley! Why do some -8k5's of Thomson have the upper and lower winglets? Is the "double version a retrofit or do they come off the line like that? Cheers Thanks I think Thomson are planning on Retrofitting the entire fleet, so far they have only done a couple... By the way, where did you position yourself for these photos? There is a footpath running down the side of one of the carparks, i think its the long stay one. Great shots - thanks for posting. Cheers, Mike Thanks Mike Great Photos Bradley and in answer to @bzn20, the double winglets are Boeing own design, for the new series of 737 Max, but being fitted to current models more here http://www.b737.org.uk/winglets.htm Thanks Graeme Cracking photos love that Flynas scheme The flynas scheme is lovely, typically the sun went in a cloud when that turned finals... bzn20
That link Graeme provided was really interesting. A retrofit costs up to $800,000 after mod kit,a week off the line and manhours is taken into account.

Thanks The Air Contractor 737's were operating on behalf of Ryanair as well... That link Graeme provided was really interesting. A retrofit costs up to $800,000 after mod kit,a week off the line and manhours is taken into account. Is that really worth a small amount of fuel savings?? bobgpw
The winglets reduce drag and fuel burn. The 319's are being fitted with "sharklets" to improve an already efficient airframe. Fuel burn is a major cost to airlines so winglets plus changes to ATC procedures, operator flight planning etc add up to real savings. In my time in ATC, fuel saving has become a huge factor in the operation.

I was happy to see it fly past, i hadnt had a decent photo of that one yet Lovely line of shots. The light was superb. Cheers
