What I did was go into the shop and match a colour chart e.g. Lifecolor with the can tops on the racks.

Anyone know of a decent match for US Navy Gloss Sea Blue in the Halfords range?

Have a look at Peugeot Midnight Blue. It doesn't cover too well so you'll need to build up mist coats but it looks good over grey primer.

Fiat Broom Yellow for RAF Trainer Yellow.

Grey primers pretty close, well close enough for a lazy bones like me.

grey primers an almost perfect match for MSG, decent shout anyway as it is a similar shade

also Il should put the lsit so far in my first post

Yep, I think their Primer grey looks like primer grey too!

Excellent match.

Rick.

Watch out though guys because the actual shade of grey primer varies with batches.

Several years ago I did this 1/8 scale Miles Magister in Halfords paints as I was in a rush to finish it for a commercial reason. The yellow and green were near enough but the Dark Earth was on the light side, actually quite a decent match to Light Earth: however people seemed to like it anyway.

The paints I used were: Rover - Inca Yellow; Vauxhall - Leaf Green; Ford - Tuscan Beige

I'm not totally convinced about Halfords Grey Primer being a good match for MSG, it's a bit on the dark side. But I have used it fir RLM 63 on Luftwaffe pre-war spinter schemes.

Hi Everyone,

I must be getting old. What's the attraction of using Halfords paint on your models when there are so many good model paints around? This isn't a criticism, I am just a bit puzzled by it.

Best Wishes,

Will.

It's aerosol, it dries fairly quickly, at £7 a can it's better value than model paint, it's gloss so no gloss coat is needed before decalling, just some of the pros over proprietary model paints. Although I only use the grey primer, Matt black, white primer, filler primer, and appliance white so can't comment on colour match or the likes
