Pocher Aventador - all done

Recommended Posts

I wasn't going to post anything here as I thought there was more than enough stuff in the build thread but I've had a few PM's asking for some 'totally finished' shots.

This model isn't like the Pocher classics.

For one thing, everything FITS superbly, there wasn't one single part missing and there are enough left over screws/bolts etc to build another kit!

A down-side though, is that there is far less to it - around 800 or so parts not counting the screws etc compared to the 3,500+ parts in the Rolls Torpedo I built some time ago:

http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234954418-pocher-18-rolls-royce-phantom-ready-for-mot/

Also, this model is severely lacking in engine detail.

Not just pipes, wires, plumbing etc (and the vast majority of it is missing) but there is also a fair amount of actual fittings/pumps/filters/coolers etc completely missing. Not good for a £500 model.....

Mind you, anyone building a kit of this kind is 'probably' quite happy to scratch build the missing stuff - as I did.

For REAL engine close-ups, look at the build thread:

http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234963415-pocher-18-aventador/

One BIG alteration to the kit was to make the whole rear end easily removable.

It lifts off in a few seconds and goes back just as easily.

OOB, 90% of the rear end and engine is forever hidden.

However, for now, the completed car....

yeah - that came out beautifully! Well done

The last set of pics makes it look a deep red - which I personally find more appealing than the Orange.

No where to put the shopping bags though! In fact - anything larger than a handbag forget it :D

Thanks for the WIP - it was thoroughly enjoyable, informative and best of all, you have saved me $1,000.00AU in the process. I'm not a good car modeller and the level of skill required for this kit is wayyyy more than I have.

A personal 'thank you' Roy.

I knew it was excellent but to see it with the other 1/8 scale works you've done is stunning.

Now I've got to ask; what about dust? Does your lovely home have none?

You've got to build or buy cases for them-especially the classics which are open-topped and have tons of exposed fiddly detail. Even with an air compressor, they are murder to have to remove dust.

-And what's next? Finally the Sedanca or Alfa??

Yes - dust is a big problem even though I frequently dust the 'biggies' with giant 'mop' make-up brush.

My 1/12 cars fit inside my display cabinets - as does the 1/8 E Type, albeit with the bonnet taken off....

The Aston DB9 is a big dust-trap as it has to sit on top of one of the cabinets.

You can see how the Rolls is normally on show in one of the pics below. (sigh)

However.....

I've ordered display cases for the Rolls and the Aventador.

Gradually I'll get cases for them all but they are a bit 'steep' price-wise, so only a few at a time, every now and then.

That's the trouble with giant cars - great fun to build, but they take up an immense amount of space.

Alfa next????

...Maybe...

Or maybe the Mercedes 540K......

Roy.

Very nice indeed - I like the colour, & as usual it's stunningly well finished! But the car does nothing for me, I so much prefer your Jag, that's just so beautiful! :D

/\ This.

Many, many years ago I built the Pocher Testarossa, Alfa Muletto and F40.

They all look a bit said today; the Testarossa's glass has become opaque,

and both it and the F40 suffer from severely sagging suspension.

I hope that the Lamborghini wears better.

(The Muletto has just been handled carelessly over the years!).

I was worried for a while there Roy, I was just catching up on your build log when suddenly it was all done! I feared you'd damaged it but joy joy, here she is in all her glory.

I'm another that reads between the pics and thoroughly enjoy your posts, very educational too, without which sometimes I could miss out on what you do.

Another very enjoyable build Roy, impeccable model and an inspiration to us all! :-) :-) :-) :-)
