Problem with Alclad Microfiller

Has anyone had a problem with Alclad black microfiller clogging up in the airbrush?

Try as I might, I can't get past a couple of passes with my Iwata before the paint clogs up and I have to clean out the brush.

I am following the instructions on the bottle, and I have set the needle on the airbrush to give wide coverage.

I am completely puzzled.

I must admit that I've been using exactly the same product over the last three days, straight from the bottle, through my Iwata. I've not had any problems and a quick clean up with cellulose thinners has the airbrush ready for action the next day. I'm sorry that probably doesn't help you, but it's all I can add.

I use a Paasche VV (something) AB and had a few issues when I was using my small needle that I use for normal AB painting.

I swapped it over for one of the larger needles and it seemed to spray quite well set somewhere between 15-20psi.

I also found that their own AB cleaner product works best for after work cleaning..

The trick is also to get fairly close to your work, as spraying from a wide position can cause the finished surface to end quite rough.

A quick rub down of micromesh does not go astray either..

I'm quite happy with this product, so keep persisting as the final finish is quite good..

Cheer.. Dave.

Often, when we change from acrylics to lacquer based paints in the same airbrush, it causes any residue to "jelly up" and clog horribly. I usually make sure I clean an airbrush before I change after numerous instances of this happening :)

Not had any problems either.

I mix acrylics and lacquers on a session, but flush through before hand with the correct thinners for the next paint.

Guess you've tried that though.

I too use an Iwata. It's a CR with 0.3mm needle.

Rick.

Thanks guys. I have had it a while so it might be worth me having a go with a fresh bottle - I have a couple of NMF EE Lightnings that I want to do justice to. Will get some cellulose thinner as well but must remember to keep a steady hand when mixing!
