nimrod54
I hope I am asking this question in the right place. I am in the final stages of completing a 120mm Verlinden figure of a Prussian Hussar and the time has come to add the kit supplied lead foil that is used to represent the leather straps for the sabretache. I am concerned that the paint may come off when I add and shape it to the figure. I will prime it first but I am not sure which is the best primer to use, would any primer suitable for metal be OK? I hope that someone can help. Many thanks
pigsty
It's always a possibility, and primer can come off too. Can you shape the foil without attaching it, then paint it, then attach it? That would minimise the final bending.
hendie
I always use etch primer when priming metal parts - it etches itself into the metal and adheres better than standard primer

I think that I'll give Hendie's suggestion of etch primer a go first, mainly because I am too far down the line with the figure and it would mean a tricky masking job. In the end I might have no alternative but to mask and paint it on the model, but hopefuly not. Thanks to you both again.
