tonyot
Hiya Folks, I don`t usually comment on here about magazines but I`d just like to say that there are some good articles in Flypast this month (October issue) about the Beaufort, Hurricane (including the Norwegian campaign, Aden/Red Sea &, Finland), Ju 88, SE5a and even Norman Tebbits career in the RAuxAF! Flypast has been a bit dull and US orientated for quite some time but it has really come good this month! Cheers Tony
Paul Bradley
I agree with your last statement, Tony - far too much Korea and Vietnam nowadays for my taste. I gave up my subs last year, after having bought it basically since issue 1...... Does the Norman article have a photo of him on a typical RAF bike, by chance.....? tonyot
Hello Paul, No there is no photo of Lord Tebbit getting `on his bike',......to look for work,.......but there is a plan drawing of a Meteor Mk.III which is captioned as being a Mk.4,.....DOH!! There are some nice pics of 604 Sqn Meteor F.8`s including one in colour. The Meteor caption does higlight another deficiency with Flypast nowadays,......there are lots of aircraft identification errors! Cheers Tony
Paul J
Last months or earlier, Flypast made a boo boo when captioning the camera ship B-25 N1042B used in the making of Memphis Belle(Hence the article) and saying it made a comeback to the UK having been used in the making of B o fB!! How very wrong. The B-25 alias 'Psychedelic Monster' in 1968/69 for the Bo B film was a completely different aeroplane! Another point of interest was also, in a recent issue, a colour 3 view of that black RAF Thunderbolt with the falsh and nose cowl in pale blue and not red! So now, which is right????
