GrahamS
Bit more from, rather appropriately, Sky: http://news.sky.com/story/1326761/nasa-approves-rocket-to-take-humans-to-mars But why do they have to wait until 2030? Some of us will be dead and gone by then. I want to see the Martian Rock Monsters. Graham

PLC1966
Jetboy, As a non-space story type of person, why do you feel America is not together on this, the way I read the article does not suggest any issues, just a Government Financial department asking another Government department whether they have enough money to fund a project. Not being funny, genuine question.

Nigel Heath
I could do without the Mysterons though. Why? They are an integral part of the plan in getting humans onto Mars.

jetboy
Jetboy, As a non-space story type of person, why do you feel America is not together on this, the way I read the article does not suggest any issues, just a Government Financial department asking another Government department whether they have enough money to fund a project. Not being funny, genuine question. hi,im not sure what i mean really,it just seems NASA,S been sidelined as a government dept,a bit like british rail was when it was govt led, just seems to keep going but not at the cutting edge like it should, giving private companies the glory and publicity, wheras,a dept like NASA whose got a track record of this industry, and lets face it had all the facilitys and engineering wherewithall,to have had lunar bases as stepping stones to mars thirty years ago, I know most people say its comes down to money, but that cannot be the only thing,..look at all the money spent by different governments, and privateers since the seventies,on individual projects that have basically not gone anywhere, apart from cluuttering space with satellites and a rover on mars that really should of been there 25 yrs ago. it just seems that the only right way to do it ,is by the startrek method,or the even earlier gerry anderson way ,world space patrol etc...it just seems that in 50 yrs basically all we have is a saturn 5 on a reduced scale, apart from the secret space planes, which we know nothing about? all i can do is hope that someone does something major before i die,to get excited about..otherwise its all historical modelling, apart from what we humans seem brilliant at doing, and make missiles a bit more intresting? don
