fightersweep
Hi All, Just a quick question from a usual builder of things with wings! The Olympic dazzle scheme question posted previously got me thinking. I've always been fascinated by those dazzle paint jobs, and having the urge to build a ship model, wouldn't mind having a go at a ship in one of these fantastic colour schemes. So, my question is this: Are there any suitable 1/350 scale kits out there that would be applicable for the dazzle scheme. I saw a build of the USS Nebraska in a really great colour scheme and something along those lines would be great. I'm open to any suggestions though. Thanks in advance; Steve
Jeff Leiby
Steve, Below is good starting point for US Navy in WW2: http://www.shipcamouflage.com/warship_camouflage.htm Many different patterns that are different than the WW1 "dazzle" schemes. bootneck
A Titanic kit would allow you to build the Olympic in dazzle camouflage. Would need some minor changes at the front of the promenade deck and additional lifeboats. Mike
Shar2
Or just wait for Minicraft to release their Olympic Mike.
seadog
A nice example is Jim Baumann's Mauretania - the old Airfix kit
bootneck
You may also want to consider Japanese ships. Lots of details of kits (mostly 1:700) HERE Check out Yasukuni Maru, Hein Maru and Kyushu Maru as examples. Mike
