Pin
I spoiled a sheet of custom printed decal when I applied a coat of Microscale Liquid Decal Film. I applied it as usual using soft brush but when it dried there were patched where the film was seriously wrinkled. Has anybody stumbled on this problem? Any ideas on what causes it and is it fixable? lasermonkey
I've had this happen before. I put it down to humidity, but would be very interested to find out for sure. My decals were a write-off.
hacker
Don't use it, l find a thin coat of gloss works better
Pin
Usually it works beautifully. Humidity? Hmmm, maybe.
Pin
Hacker, Eventually I followed your advise. Spraying several coats of Future turned out to be simpler and works better. I'm sort of disappointed with Microscale Liquid Decal Film for custom printing. It still works for fixing old decals but I rarely need that. depressed lemur
I was about to post a question about this as I have ended up with too much film in some areas making the decal appear too thick. I have never tried spraying Klear (Future) before, do you need to thin it, and what do you use to clean the airbrush after? I was thinking of trying to thin the decal film with IPA and spray that, but may try this method instead.
Pin
I don't thin Future (I still have a couple of original bottles), blow it with very low pressure from 2-3 inches. I clean the airbrush with IPA afterwards.
hacker
I must apologize as l did not give you full information. General when l print out my own decals l seal then with a shot of Testors glosscote. It always seems to work for me. I try to airbrush it as thin as possible as to not make the decal look too thick. Pin
Thanks Hacker - the general idea is clear, the choice of coat is personal The results: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234960730-roden-zeppelin-staaken-172/page-3#entry1725626
