nurglespuss
Hi Guys, well this is the second Armourfast kit I picked up to experiment with. I was not as impressed with this kit as the StuH 42's, they look fine for a basic replica, but that essentially empty open top, and very sparse detail kind of left me wondering what to do with them. Well, I did a bit of Googling and found quite a few intentional and field modified open turrets of various types of tank, and decided to go with a 'field' modified turret offering a little more protection, but less visibility. It's not perfect, but I can imagine the welding and swearing while it was being made! This was painted very quickly to see how the green and the dirt would look. the front insignia is a direct snub to the vehicles former owners (I have not managed to find any mention of a German capture M36). The second one, i decided to keep open topped and have tried to add a small amount of detail with basic scraps and paper clips. I'm waiting for a Zevzda german machine gun to arrive to nab the crew from (and for the heavens to stop so I can spray prime it). Anyway, any comments appreciated, on this simple job.
Sgt.Squarehead
This is one of the earlier kits from the Armourfast range IIRC.....Your work is clearly far superior to the kit, go on, treat yourself to a Zvezda QB, you'll never look back! Smudger2
Hi, is the armoured roof section on the turret done from photo's, was this a real conversion by the Germans or is it improvised modelling? I have an M36 B-2 by a Ukrainian maker UM i think, and the lid looks very much simpler than yours, basicly a flat sheet with a hinged rear.
