TeeELL
This is all well and good and, of course, a welcome addition to Great War armour - but apart from the trials, which I understand were not over successful due to flexing of the frames, are there any records of the modification ever being used? Chris B
I've come across pics of Mark IV Tadpoles being trialled and of Tadpole conversions (track extensions) being stockpiled in France but despite extensive reading I've found no reference to them being used in action. The anticipated need for wider trench crossing was met by the introduction of the lengthened and much better designed Mark V* and Mark V** making the Tadpole redundant.
