capri-schorsch
Ok guys,i was completely wrong.I dont have to drill holes into the silicone.I need to drill the holes into the resin core.My fault! Was thinking in the wrong direction. So when my last casting is the same like before i will drill some holes into the resin. They need to be so small that they break up easily when i remove the casted body. Will see if i need it or.Thanks for your thoughts and sorry for my weired question!regards Christian
capri-schorsch
Hi,the second version is much better than the first one.Only 3-4 bubbles. But i will see if i can minimize them with a small modification at the inner core. The body was sanded to a plain surface.I used a thicker MDF plank and glued some sanding paper on it.Works fine. The windows are cut out,and the dashboard plank was was put in place.Seats are also done and next step will be the chassis.I have to think about the suspension.I dont know how to make it at the moment.Need some good ideas first.regards Christian

vontrips
Looking fantastic Christian! Are you vacuuming the resin? Have you tried 'slush casting' using just the female (outer) mould? Never tried the technique on something this big, so can't recommend it! In theory, no bubbles, but downside is consistency of resin thickness. capri-schorsch
Hi,the molding creation comes slowly to an end.The chassis is nearly finished yet.Only some cosmetic things to do.In the background is my drilling template to make the center drills for the wheels.Ok,i think the car is deep enough on the ground. :mrgreen:The body fits well onto the chassis.I made three points where the body touches the chassis.Should work i think.I sanded one front and one rear wheel to check the correct height. It was easy to find the right measuring because of the cad data.Ok,the suspension is not the prettiest one,but it should work. And at the end its invisible behind the brakes. The nuts are full functional.regards Christian

capri-schorsch
@Shaun: I will accept your orders. No problem! :evil_laugh: Ok,the main molding bulding is done.Only one for the side coolers and one for the exhaust should be done in the next week. The body stands for the first time on his feet.I was surprised that he stand very tight on all four wheels. The ride height is ok and everything fits together fine.Next step will be the windows.something what I'm a little scared at the moment.I will see if this works fine or not.regards Christian
capri-schorsch
Thanks guys!Today i made my first ever vacuum formed windscreens. It was very easy!I used my old small oven who was bought from my wife a while ago.Luckily she dont want him anymore. Its the perfect size for my modeling use.The mold is fixed with tape onto my vac-box.In the meantime the clear sheet is in the oven.Vacuum cleaner is ready and waits for the warm clear sheet.Quickly the sheet out of the oven and onto the box.The result makes me happy. And also the front windows are in the making.Only have to cool down a bit and thats it.I used PVC hard material in 0,3mm thickness for the first try.I got some other material also at home who will tested later. The molds are not clean enough, you can see every small scratch and i have to clean it better for the next vacuum screens. But for my premiere with this i am very happy with the result.Regards Christian

capri-schorsch
Hey Shaun, i never thought about to sell the master to an master company. heloman1
Looking superb with a coat of primer Christian and the vac-formed parts look great. If you would like to increase the 'pull' on the vac box, fill the box with styra-foam but leave 10mm all round. This reduces the air space and you will get an almost instant pull. I do like the Lancia. Colin
Roy vd M.
Really great result... I do agree that you should try selling your moulds to a professional kit maker, your work looks splendid.
capri-schorsch
There are already a professional kit seller on the market with this kit. MFH did a longtail and a shorttail version from this kit. But they want 500€ + for it. So i want to sell copies from my version for 180€. I think another pro-kit maker would be in the range between those prices. From my case there is no need for this.I do make copies and i do sell it for guys who want one,or even more.No problem. Many thanks for your comments!
