Simon
Update for today... The cupboards and worktops in the rear are now in place: I've also made a start on some fixtures and fittings. Here are a couple of hot water boilers (one for the sink unit, one for tea-making), two tea urns and a couple of milk/water cans: They'll go on something like this once painted: More soon... Simon
A few odds and ends to report for today... I've redone the radiator grille, as the civil version has horizontal slats rather than a mesh, so I used some Evergreen metal siding. It needs a bit of a tidy up, but it should look okay with a coat of paint and some weathering: The wheels are now painted, and need some weathering: Next up, I've done some tiling for the canteen area's walls. This is the brown plastic sheet with corrugations already moulded in it (I can't remember where I got it, but I think it's railway siding), with more lines scribed at right angles to create the tiles, and then airbrushed white: I've given them a wash of pale grey to lift up the panelling and make them a bit less stark (they're not as dirty as the photo makes them look!): And finally, the rear body sides and back have been cut out. The serving hatch has been cut out, as well as the window on the right hand side and rear door. I've added the waist-high seam, a gutter over the serving hatch, as well as some thin plastic card to the wheel arches: More soon... stevej60
Looking better and better Simon, I popped into NELSAM a day or so ago and they have a Wartime fire engine which looked like it was based around the vehicle you are modelling wish I had taken my camera! Simon
More progress to report today. The sides and back of the rear are now on. I've test-fitted the LH door to check the aligment and the frame for the RH door to check it fits okay: A coat of Halfords Primer to check for gaps: It needed a bit of filler for the back to blend it, and I replaced the waist-high seam on the back too: I could now fit the tiling for the RH side of the interior: and finally for today I've made a start for the curved section above the cab: More soon... Simon
Some more porgress today (work's a bit quiet at the moment...). The front bodywork is now primed, and the radiator grille in place. Needs a bit of a tidy up, but looks okay: Here's the curved section over the cab glued: ...and tidied up and test-fitted. Need some slight trimming, but hopefully should fit just about fine: And in a moment of madness, I decided to make some 1/76 plates, tea mugs and a milk jug: More soon...
