Tarkas
Now we wait and see if: a -- everything still works when it's powered up; and b -- if the lander can successfully touch down to do its stuff. Ever so slightly nail-biting in its own way... Edited August 7, 2014 by Tarkas
GrahamS
Ever so slightly nail-biting in its own way... It certainly is - I can remember watching the programmes on the landings of Beagle 2 and the US Martian rovers. Absolutely riveting. I just wish it all happened a bit quicker! Currently watching the events unfold live on ESA TV. Just sit back and admire a tremendous achievement without dragging in nonsense. If any more silliness is introduced into what should be sensible and interesting discussions on spaceflight and space technology I may very well call it a day on this forum. I am finding it so depressing, to be honest. Edited November 12, 2014 by Eric Mc

Eric Mc
It would be a bit shocking if it had spotted Bruce Willis bounding over the (very close) horizon. It's a fantastic achievement. However, it looks like its landing was quite dramatic with a two hour bounce followed by a seven minute bounce. Then the anchoring system failed to deploy and communications seem to be a bit patchy. They aren't out of the woods yet.
Doug Rogers
I thought the whole comet was sort of going along in a tumbling motion, so surely it will get sunlight at times?
davecov
Unfortunately, it is laying on it's side with one leg in a hole. It is also in the shadow of a "cliff" and if they can't move it pretty soon, the onboard batteries will run out because the "cliff" is preventing the solar panels from working and charging the batteries. However, it is collecting data at the moment so not all is lost. Dave

Eric Mc
With the exception of the side facing us in the above image, the rest of the side surfaces are covered in solar panels.
